I agree with using good products and proper preparation. One thing I finally tried after reading many recommendations was to shave in the shower. It made a huge difference for me in the quality of shave I get. If you need a mirror you can get a non-fogging shaving mirror for the shower from Amazon for about 14 bucks. If you find it works you may want to spend another 5 bucks on a little gadget you can get at Lowes or Home Depot that you can use to temporarily shut off the water to the shower head. It will more than pay for itself in the first month by saving you a bunch on hot water cost.
