I don't know you or your workplace, so I'm just guessing here. But from my experience and reading the many experiences of others here, you are likely imagining the comments from others to be strong and negative. While you are much more likely to experience neutral and positive responses.
And ... I didn't believe this until it happened to me ... girls will want to touch your head. You could have knocked me over with a feather!
You'll also feel more in control if you have some witty replies in mind. Find some lines that suit your personality ... "went to a new barber and wanted to get my money's worth" ... (with a look of surprise) "oh, my new look - I thought you'd seen this shirt before" ... "I got an extra good haircut because my barber's going on holiday for three months" ... you get the idea.
