Exfoliant - Recommendation?
« on: May 12, 2012, 08:25:53 PM »
Looking for a recommendation of a readily available exfoliant.

And how important is it to your daily shaving routine?

Thanks.

I am a former user of Walmart's "Equate" brand of medicated exfolliator. I say former because theirs is said to "equate" with St. Ives Apricot Scrub. So the other day I was looking around for my Equate and it was not there. In its place I decided to try the St. Ives. Needless to sat Walmart's brand does not equate to the real thing. St Ives is clearly superior.
I use this after shaving to get off any dead skin that gets left behind. I put it on and scrub it a bit, then let it sit for a few minutes and scrub again. Then I rinse. It leaves a nice shine and my dome feels much smoother than it does on the days I don't scrub.

Hey,

I use a loofah pad, I found the scrubs dried my face out a little.

Re: how important see http://www.pgdermatology.com/downloads/documents/Gillette_WhitePaper.pdf page seven figure 2 (also some things in that may be marketing hype, but still interesting)

Thanks gents ... I've got a loofah, and I just picked up a container of St Ives and will see how it goes.

I sense a radical overhaul to my daily routine as I implement Sly-dom next week :-)

I agree with Buddha. I was a happy user or CVS brand of Apricot Scrub for a couple of years..... but I went to buy it and it was out of stock so I bought the St. Ives. HUGE DIFFERENCE!! I'm now a ST. Ives user.... though not daily... once or twice a week.

I used to use Noxzema until these fellows (yeah you Mike ;D) converted me to the St. Ives Apricot scrub(which I started using on May 3rd)...Makes my scalp cleaner, shinier and smoother longer...The Noxzema is pretty much sitting in my cabinet now, St. Ives also works well on the face after a shave (Thanks, Mike and others!)

St Ives also ... I use just a little each morning for scalp and forehead. It's a great feeling.

St. Ives Apricot Scrub every other day (the days that I shave) and Noxema  (Extra Moisturizing) the day in between.

St Ives almost every day.  SO GOOD! The rough scrubbing is a good pep up in the morning.
