hello fellow chrome domes:
well... i'm a little late and just got my lawn fertilized and cut the other week. i also "killed" some weeds and the lawn is starting to look good, again. as far as spring cleaning.... that has not been done, yet.
so... how 'bout U? have u started with your yard work? how 'bout the spring cleaning? what's your story?

Fertilized the citrus trees, grapefruit, blood orange & satsuma--looks like we'll have an extra ordinary crop of blood oranges this Fall.

Like orange juice, perhaps a little more "rich" in the sweetness, but the color is red, really dark red, like blood. The skin is orange with a blush of red sometimes. The surprise is when you slice it open and see the red and orange flesh. It really is a great experience, particularly the first time, when your mind says, "Tomato juice?" but your taste buds say, "Humm fresh orange juice!" If you see some fresh ones in the store it's worth the extra expense to try them.
thanks saintc: i've never noticed the blood oranges because i usually eat tangerines, regular oranges, and mandarin oranges. however... i'm gonna look out 4 the blood oranges.

You need an
orangerie, that would solve your problem.
I've been vegetable gardening all winter here in NC. Been a mild winter. Lots of vegetables are in and growing.
Never bother to fert. the lawn. Looks awful anyway. I'm about to replace the entire lawn with wildflowers or moss (in the shady areas).
Try to do a little gardening almost every day.
I don't have a yard - I have a condo, so no lawn. I do have a 84 year old mother with a Big front and back yard. Every year I do her spring cleaning. I gut the gardens and replace the plants, weed liners, soil and decorate the area with knick knacks like lava rocks or garden trimming. We do try to maintain these areas but it seems once fall hits we always lose track of the weeding. I also cut her grass, edge and weed eat on a regular basis.
One nifty tool I use is a blower and vacuum combo from the Worx company (as seen on tv) Love this thing. After I cut the lawns I blow the clippings on the sidewalk and driveway into a pile then just suck them up after switching to vacuum mode. It is lots faster and easier than raking/sweeping and bagging the clippings. Works great for pine needles or other fallen leaves too.
I wish I did have a yard.. I love to grow veggies. I have talked to Ma about using a space in her yard for this purpose and may do it next year. She only lives 10 blocks away so I can go and take care of em. I'm not into flowers really but I do Love Orchids! I consider an orchid a more masculine flower because they can be tough and exotic looking. LOL
