Still can't quite get a perfect shave

I've been shaving my head for about 2 years now on and off. I've tried Headblade but it doesn't get the sides or behind my ears. I've tried various methods and blades but it seems that no matter what the sides of my head are greyish instead of skin. Am I just not putting in enough shaving time or what?

I don't know that I have ever had a "perfect" shave but the ones that I have had have been good enough.

Stop trying so hard. Don't worry about perfect, like buddha says. In time you will get to where you want to be. You may want to try another type of razor, such as Schick Hydro 5 or a good ol' Mach III.
Sometimes changing things up can make all the difference.

Currently I'm using a Mach 3 then touching up with a Fusion.
Could it just be that my scalp is pale and therefore greyish due to lack of sun? I suppose I could try some self tan but I'd rather not look like a sweaty cheeto.

I personally have found that shaving with the grain will leave more of a shadow than shaving against the grain. I typically shave with then against the grain with very good results. That being said if you are bald by choice the gray shadow is part of what those of us who have less than perfect heads (bald by natures choice) have to deal with. Stay with it and you will find your happy place.

I've only given up on head shaving a few times and for the most part that was because I cut the bejesus out of my head.
I'm trying to achieve the Bruce Willis look.

IMHO, there is no such thing as a perfect shave....but we try our best to achieve a shave that we all can be happy with. We all make the mistake of trying to "achieve" the look that someone else has...For the first several months after I went permanently sly, I made the mistake of comparing my shaved head to the next guy's and even when I thought I got it right based on someone else's head, I still would find a flaw in my own haircut (I missed a spot here, I got a bump there, etc. etc.). Finally, I came to terms and said: "I'm going to shave for my own satisfaction, what others have be damned" When I got to the point of convincing myself that it's my bald head and 99% don't care anyway, I shaved for myself and got better results. Most of us sly guys have some "flaws" on our scalp that the next guy may not have, but it's the good and the bad on our heads that make it uniquely ours!! Not to go Dr. Phil here, but getting to the point, we've all had to practice, change our methods and keep striving for the look that makes us happy...Good luck to you!

Greatness , i still struggle , with the hb despite others opinions gillette fusion is the best tool for the job , not quite sure what the power side of the fusion achieves ?

It takes time to "master" the HeadBleade.

Perfect shaves are few and far between IF they even exist.... but you can still get an excellent shave by taking your time and using GOOD products. Sorry... Gillette Foamy in a can (and the likes) aren't going to give you what you're looking for.

TIME is your Friend when shaving.... that will also help eliminate the bad cuts.

Well I tried out using the fusion from the get go instead of using it to touch up; it seems to have made a difference.
Headblade did alright and I reserve the right to go back to it but it never did a good job around my ears.

I get great results using the Fusion for the complete shave and using the smaller Mach 3 around the ears.     Are you shaving both with and against the grain?   You have to be aware of your hairs growth pattern and that can help too.

Been using the HB for 2 months. Have the same problem as you with side and behind ears. Though the HB does a good enough job for back of the head and for the top (or what's left on top to actually shave).

For the time being, will persevere with the HB. Longer term may switch to an electric razor / traditional wet razor. 

Guess we all have different head types each with their own special needs, to look after !

Achieving the Bruce Willis look would probably require make up  the darker your skin the less noticeable any shadow is. So a suntan or tinted lotion on your head & face will help. The good ones have different shades.

I used to use Mach 3 and it was fine.  I now use Fusion and like it even better, esp. because of the single blade on the reverse of the shaving head.  It's great for getting that area around the ear.

Also, if you are looking for that baby butt smooth feeling, try using an exfoliant.  Several are available.  I like Headshed by the Headblade folks.  Seems impossible to get at a retail store so I order it online.  Works great.

Another  thought reading this again is  how are you visualising  mirrors or  what I use my  bathroom cupboard with 2 opposing mirrors  seems to be the best way than feeling which does work  but cumbersome
