Pretty much any non-oil based sunscreen that provides UVA & UVB protection at spf 35 or better.  I've never found a sunscreen than impaired my shine, and some actually kick it up a notch or two.

SPF35 or better being the operative phrase.

I was using some Banana Boat with SPF 50 last year and it protected and increased the shine.

I've read many other posts about sunscreen providing similar results.

After doing some internet research I have opted for a hat. The majority of these commercial sunblocks contain estrogen. I'll let that speak for itself. In addition to that a lot of them contain ingredients that are actually carcinogenic to the skin. I did a more detailed post about this some time ago. It's appears under "Protection for Your Bald Head" and the thread is entitled "Sunblock Warning". It's on page 5 of the "Protection....." area. If I was going to use a sunblock I would do a detailed search for the ones that don't use these ingredients. My search revealed that the vast majority of the sunblocks use a combination of these substances and the ones that don't use them can get pricey. Having had a carcinoma cut out of my forehead once I have no desire to repeat that. To me a hat seems the safest, albeit maybe not the most stylish, way to go but I pride myself on being a "function ahead of form" type of guy.

Thanks for the heads up (pun intended)   8)

Did you happen to find any safe products in your search that you could share with us?

http://breakingnews.ewg.org/2011sunscreen/best-sunscreens/best-beach-sport-sunscreens/

If you go to this link they actually list what they consider to be the best sunblocks. You can navigate around the website and they have a list of the really bad ones and also a list of things that people might consider when selecting a sunblock. Some people are of the opinion that sites like this are "Green Nazi", however, when our FDA, who is supposed to be in the business of protecting us from openly dangerous products or fraudulent claims of effectiveness seems to be asleep at the wheel I think it's just wise to look elsewhere for an opinion.

Thanks for sharing. I just printed the list and will see if my local pharmacy stocks any of these. With all the different brands listed I'm thinking I should be able to find some of these local.

You hard core biker guys might also try a helmet to reduce the harmful rays of the sun as well as wind burn!  ???  I think a helmet might give you more than an SPF 1000 factor  :*)) and the safety you need when you need it, so your melon stays smooth and sly and doesn't pop like a plastic packing bubble.  :o

In between rides, when you take your helmet off, you may want to reapply your sunblock of choice.  All of the riding that I hope you do, will probably wear off some of the sun block, and if it only does it in certain spots and not others, you might not appreciate the possible mixed tan that could result.  :-[

In addition, if you wear a dew rag or bandanna under your helmet, you will especially want to reapply sun block when you take your rag off (if you plan on being in the sun at all).  O0
