The HeadBlade Line

Gotta throw in my vote for the Headblade as well.  I used a regular razor for my first week of being sly, and it was rough on my scalp.  The first night I bought a Headblade Sport with some Headslick, I got a faster, closer shave than I ever had before, and I've been using it ever since.  Plus, it looks like a little Hot Wheels car--how can you go wrong with a razor that has wheels?  Now I need to get the Headshed exfoliator to smooth things out up there before I shave.

Are you supposed to use Headshed for every shave?  I got that along with Headlube lotion...figured I should get the complete solution.  Just easier that way (and I love the yellow "sports drink bottles" this stuff comes in).

First, I agree with you 100%, the Sports Bottles that the stuff come in totally Rock... No Rust Rings on the counter top, and no real worry about "what happens if I drop this?". Second, I use it every day.  You don't necessarily need to, but i find that every day use cuts down on the Dry/Dead Skin & Helps deliver a Clean Shave everytime.  My Recommendation: Yes, use it every day before your shave.  Trust me, Velcro will be Drastically Cut down.

I did and its been 3 weeks since i placed my order and nothing. Sent them two emails and have yet to get a reply. Beginning to think i've been ripped off. Guess i will have to try and deal with paypal to get my money back.


Did pick up a headblade from a shoppers that had it on clearance, tried it tonight and don't think its for me. To hard to maneuver around the head to get all the little nooks and crannies. Must have got a lot more smaller nicks then usual as well cause when i slapped on some aftershave hurt a lot more too. I think i just have to small a head to find the headblade useful. There was some headlube matte on clearance too and i'm pretty happy with it, absorbs really fast and doesn't leave any greasy residue at all.

Not a Canuck, but have ordered from Headblade.com and had no difficulties. If you're having problems with HeadBlade Canada, maybe it'd be a good idea to call their headquarters in California.

As far as your experiences with the razor, it sounds as if your story is similar to a lot of SBG's when they try the HeadBlade razor for the first time. The big difference between the HB and a regular razor is that you put pressure on the razor head (blade area) with a regular razor whereas with the HeadBlade, it's critical that you keep pressure on the back of the HB. It is key to keep pressure on the back because the razor of the HB is already set at the optimum angle. If you put pressure on the front part of the HB, it will do a "wheelie" and with the razor pointing forward, it'll nick you. I view the HeadBlade like a comb. You don't dig in with a comb, do you? Oh wait, we're all sly anyway.

I would recommend that you don't give up on it. It's an incredible product. Also, go to headblade.com and watch the little clip on how to use it. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I watch it a few times and even practiced with it (guard on) before I went SLY on New Year's Day 2007. I think it paid off because I have yet to cut my head as a result of using the HeadBlade Classic.

Thanks for the tips, my main problem is the side of my head, can't really seam to fit in the headblade on the sides. The headblade does seam to work well going straight front to back, back to front for the middle of my head though.


Where do you guys get ur fogless mirrors, cause i definitely need one with the headblade.

As far as the sides, I stay above the earline on my first pass going with the grain (front to back). What I then do is flip it around and go in reverse direction on the back of the head, including around the ears. So far, so good. That method has worked for me. I would also recommend that you fold your ear down with your free hand so you don't nick your ear (damn they seem to bleed forever). Also, make sure you use both you left and your right hand for each side of your dome.

I'm not sure where my wife got our mirror (WalMart I think). It was pretty cheap, under $10.

The grain on the side of my head runs bottom to top, as opposed to front to back. Going across the side of my head with the headblade (front to back) seamed a little rough. I'll give'r another try in a couple of days after my head had some time to calm down.

Get your dome nice and warm in the shower, use the HeadSlick, let it soak in, and go to work. Remember, pressure off the blade and keep the back side of the HB in contact with your dome, even when you flip it around when you go on the back of the head.

RoachX, I echo what Schro said.  I start out going front to back on the sides and then flip it and go back to front.  If you have to, try applying a second coat of shaving cream when you change directions.
