I shaved my head the day before Christmas 2011 so am in about my 8th week. I have tried a lot of different razors and methods (Headblade, Rayzor, M5, Panasonic electric, etc.) I think (not completely sure yet!) that I've decided how I'm going to handle this going forward:
I think I'm going to use the Panasonic exclusively. I was using the Panasonic followed by the Rayzor until late last week. I hadn't had any problems with the Rayzor but on Thursday I skimmed the whole top off a bump on the top of my head. It bled a lot and still is not completely healed yet (and looked pretty bad too!) I'm sure it was my fault and not the Rayzor's...but still!
The Panasonic gives a nice close shave...not as close as a razor but still close. I love the feel of smoothness after using a razor but get almost the same feeling with the Panasonic. Plus...even after a razor shave my head is approaching sandpaper after about 6 hours. So I got to thinking if it doesn't last all day anyway...why try so hard to get it down as low as possible? Plus the Panasonic is not leaving any red marks and try as I did I was still getting them with razors. My head looks so much better without any shaving blemishes and it is acceptably smooth.
My decision surprises me a bit...I'm usually very obsessive about everything and normally it would bother me if on something like this I wasn't achieving the very best results. But if I'm going to stick with this for the long haul ( which I want to do) then it will have to be something that works for me.
I think I have my answer
Glad you found a routine that suites your needs. Sometimes good enough is good enough!
yep, got to watch them bumps! but electric wwill do the trick
I love a smooth dome and a razor does it best...but I don't go to the trouble very much. I like the convenience, comfort and the pleasant sound of the Panasonic. I like a pleasure not a chore.
The Panasonic does a really nice job. I was using it exclusively but have recently added a Fusion to the mix.
You need to use what is best for you. One thing I really like about my Panny is you can use it wet or dry. If I don't have as much time I just bring it into the shower and kill two birds with one stone. If I need a quick touch up later in the day I just use it at the sink.
