"Africa" is an awesome song (1984, I believe). Any song that can mix "Kilimanjaro" into the lyrics is a home run in the Book of Schro.

Oh, if Al Sharpton saw the initial post, he'd probably organize a march claiming discrimination based on the color of Toto's fur.

Agonizing over what cannot be is an insult to what is.

Ah, that explains it. I was in Alaska in a very rural community which was about 20 years behind the times of mainstream America.  I missed several decades there. But don't feel bad about that. There just this 'hole' in my American experience from that time.

Schro's right - the lyrics fit Kilimanjaro and Serengetti into one line.  Saying them in the same sentence is tough, let alone singing them!

This version of it was an internet rage a few years back:

Any song that can mix "Kilimanjaro" into the lyrics is a home run in the Book of Schro.

How about one that rhymes "libido" and "tuxedo" from that same timeframe?

"Rosanna" referred to Rosanna Arquette who was dating one of the musicians in Toto when the album was first released.

If I knew that, then I would have been jealous.  O:O

The joke is still a good one....but unfortunately we got the lyrics wrong.....They're actually saying I BLESS the rains down in Africa-not miss....I thought it was miss too...dayum artillery ears :o :o What's even more bizarre is that the karaoke version says "I guess it rains down in Africa" which sounds plausible but is even more incorrect than using "miss" in place of "bless" I guess I need to get a hearing aid to listen to this song! ;D ;D

I know what you mean sidharry. I have a lot of hearing loss, and some mild tinnitus from my years firing the 106mm recoilless rifle. We used hearing protection, but those suckers were loud.

Before I left the military we had switched to TOW missiles, which were much quieter but still pretty darned loud.

SlyBear: With my MOS being 13B (cannon crewman), I'm always intrigued by various pieces of "boom-boom". For the first 10-15 years, we used the self-propelled and Paladin howitzers. In 2007, we went to the towed M109. The ammo shells look similar to those we use now....BTW, I guess I'll check up on the lyrics to "Rosanna" I think I botched some of them up too ;)
