Headblade test drive. I'm IMPRESSED
« on: February 04, 2012, 02:33:01 PM »
You all have said, work with an easy razor like Gillette Schick Hydro 5 until you get used to it. Then upgrade to the Headblade.

So, I gave the headblade a spin this afternoon before going out for dinner!  WOW!  No problems. That is the slickest, smoothest head shave that I have ever had.  So easy to use. No nicks.

Doug! No wonder you love the headblade!

I know that some of you have issues with the headblade, but for the rest of you, I'd give it a try.  Really nice! And fun to use. Just pretend you are driving a sports car over your head!

I'm a huge HB fan. I even have a brand new one in reserve in case my everyday one "breaks down".

I want the HB to work for me, it just doesn't and I freely admit that it's likely my fault.  Where I say to be cautious is if a guy experiences trouble with it, he should put it away for a bit andnot totally lose confidence.
Switch a regular razor and then go back to the HB.   Like must things in life - what works for some doesn't work for everyone.  Better to abandon the HB, at least temporarily, than the entire process of headshaving.
Bozo ring = bad.   Shaved head = good.   HB = depends on the individual, and if it's not good there are other options.

Got one in preparation to do the sly now going on 5 years.  Used it a couple of times, never really worked for me--I mean it's great for the top, but there's not much up there frankly.  Sides, too much changing and reconfiguring compared to a stick razor.  So, it's in the drawer.  I really think in the final analysis, it's what works for the 24/7 guy, and for me it's a stick razor, currently the Schick Hydro 5.  And, I've never had anything even vaguely resembling a serious nick, much less a slice with the Fusion, M5 and now the Hydro 5. The cost of the blades could be an issue, but now it's more than a year since I've used a blade for shaving below the ears and my fringe hair, etc. is fine and so the life of the blade is at least a month.   But that being said, the company's Headslick for me is the standard.  Unfortunately, they seem to be losing the shelf space battle with fewer stores selling it.  That's really going to get to be a problem.

Unfortunately, they [headblade products] seem to be losing the shelf space battle with fewer stores selling it.  That's really going to get to be a problem.

That's where online marketing comes in.  Specialty items --- go to the specialty store and that may mean online.  My Walgreen's stocks just a few head blade products compared to other brands.

I never get a nick with the HB. The problem with the HB is that if you DO cut yoursefl, it is usually bad.

Thanks for the updated profile picture. This one looks better. Less uncomfortable for me when my daughters are looking over my shoulder on the laptop and wondering what that sleeping guys is doing on the screen.

I feel like a little boy playing with my matchbox cars.  Yes, there seem to be a few spots that benefit from a traditional razor, but the majority of the head works well with the headblade.

Much like mowing the lawn.  A basic mower (head blade) for back and forth over the majority of the yard, and then a trimmer for the edges.

Another Headblader here. I currently use the S4 razor. What I like the most about the HB: It's just easy to use, top, back and sides. Some spots are more difficult to get a super close shave at first, but I just go over them again. No nicks at all, a small cut here and there is ok with me. If it happens at all it is usually because I'm trying to rush the shaving act.
I usually start shaving around and behind the ears, than back of head, and leave the easier parts as sides and front for last

The blade(s) you use are a major factor, I have tried the HB doubles, trips, Personna, Wilkinson....they are all ok, but for me the best are the Gillette sensor and sensor excel
