Have you ever had a blade "turn" on you??
« on: December 12, 2011, 12:01:50 PM »
Question......a little bit of background first.....I've been using Gillette Atra blades (with the HB) for some time now with good results. Lately it seems like my head is getting tiny nicks or irritation every time I shave even though I haven't changed my routine.

So my question is, have any of you ever had a blade "turn" on you like this? Can your skin get unaccustomed to a blade?

I can't say that has ever happened to me. I thought you had converted to a Mercur DE, no?

Not really, you may get a bad batch of cartridges every now and then, but it's extremely rare.

I use the Atra's myself and have never had a problem. You may want to try the Wilkinson equivalent too, they're just as good.
It may even be due to dry skin at this time of year. Have you changed anything else in your  routine?

I haven't had a blade "turn" on me, but I have noticed that blades don't seem to last as long as they did when I started shaving - or perhaps I'm just fussier and notice the pulling and tugging more!

Is did but only for my face for now.

I haven't changed my routine. Maybe it is a bad batch or weather related.

I do have some of the wilkinson equivalents. I'll have to give them a try.

There be something to this idea, for me at least. Last summer I went sly for the first time for almost one month, and never got a SINGLE nick. I used the HB and a Fusion. I went back to sly the day before this Thanksgiving and have gotten a least one or two small nicks. I continued to use the same razors and routine. My skin, especially my scalp, has gotten VERY dry since the November cold hit.

Like XNY, I have also been on the receiving end of a bad batch that led to nicks.
