Quick Question About The Jergens Glow
« on: August 10, 2009, 08:28:49 PM »
Hey guys, just joined.

I have shaved my head before and liked it a lot but I didnt have patience to wait for my bald white head to tan so I never kept it completly bald for long. My wife wanted me to grow my hair out because she wanted to see me with hair while I still had some. I'm 28 and have been balding for a while and also have gray hair....BOOOOO! So I grew it out for about a year and I just did not like the comb over like hair do I had. It was not the traditional comb over and you would think but I just did not like it but was trying to please the wifey.

Well the other day she just said I should just shave it.....so away I went!

Then yesterday I found this site and found out about the Jergens Glow product so I went out and got some. Now my question is did you guys apply the product to your whole head and face or just the white bald part? I read some people said they applied it 3 times a day so I was wondering if maybe I should apply one coat to my whole head and then two coats on the white part. Input would be greatly appreciated! I tried searching but it was difficult trying to find it.

Your mileage may vary, but I only apply it to the white part.  Otherwise the rest of my face would also darken and still not match.  Just my made up logic and no real insight from any other source.

Remember that this is a chemical tan and not permanent.  You still need a bit of sun to get your scalp to start producing melanin to help even things up naturally.  I have been using the Jergen's once per day, but after a week, I see little results.  It is darker, but it is up in the air whether it is the Jergens or the amount of sun I am getting.  I am starting to up the amount to see if that helps increase it a bit.  Also 10-20 minutes in the sun at a time with an SPF15 several times per day helps.

Hope this helps.

I second what Antimidas said.  I have gotten pretty good results with the Jergens Natural Glow product.  I do spend quite a bit of time in the sun on the weekends though too.

I use it twice a day with good results. When I first started using it I used it only on the white part of the head. After a couple of weeks that part started getting more color. Since at the time I was living in Alaska with not a lot of sun I started using it lightly on the rest of my haed and face to keep the color even. It worked well for me. When I moved to CA I of course now get a lot more sun. I use it once a day now and apply it to my entire head and face just to even out the color from the sun.

I use aloe vera suntan reliever on my head twice a day and it really helps keep my skin moist.

Jergens??? LOL I used it for 5 days.....until I noticed that if you scub your scalp hard enough or sweat in the gym.....it comes OFF!!!! Your better of spray painting your head...Jergens is just an external build up of tanner.....hard to come off in the first coat....but after 6-7...it washes off very easily......

Waste of money....not to mention it looks orange...not natural.

The tan will come all by itself if you can just be patient. Otherwise a person can paint their head will as many different chemicals as they desire. I happen to be one of those who believes in letting nature take its course because I have no idea what is in the quick tanning agents and the long term effects on the human body. I would Google some of this stuff and look for sites where people talk about side/after effects.
Or you can just let Ma Nature do the job for you.
