I heard it on the grapevine
« on: September 22, 2011, 02:22:30 PM »
Apparently, Phillips (called something else in America I think. Noralco?) and Nivea are soon to release a 5-blade razor based on the principle idea for this electric shaver:

A friend of mine works for Gillette and apparently Gillette HQ is buzzing with the news because they feel this new razor will be a major threat to Fusion (in particular) and Mach 3. Apparently the razor handle will have a cartridge filled with a Nivea moisturising/moisturizing product made from glycerine.

Sounds good on the surface of it, but hopefully it'll be better than those ^ electric shavers. I have two of them and I hate them both

I don't like my Norelco either, but I love my Panny!

Im not a fan of electric shavers. The one I own that I like most is a Panasonic ES-RF31, but 'like' is a slight overstatement.

They're developing a new electric razor that's supposed to be a threat to the Fusion?  I can't really imagine that.  Two completely different segments of the market.

They're (apparently) releasing a 5-blade razor (ie, manual hand held razor similar to Mach 3/Fusion/Bic disposable/Venus for Chicks) which is based on the principle idea of that ^ electric shaver, ie it will have a reservoir or cartridge for a moisturizing product.

Imagine: Gillette Fusion ProGlide with a reservoir, or Mach 3 with a reservoir.

Dont imagine: food processor.

OK, I see.  I don't think I'll be buying one, though.

Well you manage to get the worlds smoothest head with an electric shaver anyway, so I dont blame you! :)

I like the idea of it though, so if it does hit the supermarket shelves, I'd definitely buy one. It can keep all my others company :D
