Coltilde Bourgeois was at home when a knock at the door brought her to the front of her house on the Bayou. There was old Bourdreaux, a odd character. She asked him through the screen door, “What do you want, Boudreaux?” He says, “Coltide, do you have a vagina?” Now she’s shocked, even from Boudreaux, she slams the door and goes to the back of the house. The next day, same thing, Boudreaux knocks on her door, and when she gets there he asks her again, “Do you have a vagina?” She slams the door again, and she’s really upset and goes to the back of the house and makes sure all the windows and doors are shut—this man may be crazy. Third day, Boudreaux’s back and again asks her, “Do you have a vagina?” She screams, slams the door and goes to the bedroom and locks the door. That night she tells her husband, Antoine, she’s scared of this Boudreaux. Antoine tells her he’ll stay home the next day and be there if Boudreaux tries this again. Sure enough Boudreaux knocks on the door. Antoine tells his wife that he’ll stand behind the door out of sight, and tells her to ask Boudreaux why he’s saying these kind of things to her—then he’ll beat him to a pulp and throw him to the gators in the Bayou. She answers the door, sure enough, Boudreaux asks yet again, “Do you have a vagina?” This time she says, “Boudreaux, why you asking me these kind of questions, it’s bad?” “Well,” says Boudreaux, “if you do, tell that no good husband of yours, Antoine, to use yours, not my wife’s!”
