Thinning hair finally pushed me over the edge and I took the plunge. I shaved it clean tonight. Now I have to wait for the reactions. My wife and son are OK with it, but the rest of the family, friends, and co-workers(all 300 of them) reactions are soon to come. I have a feeling that it will cause a stir and I am sort of apprehensive about it. I know that I shouldn't worry about it, but I am somewhat. I guess they are just going to have to get over it. I look forward to posting and reading here more in the future.

Welcome to the club. Don't worry too much about the reaction from others - it's likely to be muted. If you like the new look, that's really all that matters.

Welcome. As long as you're happy and comfortable, that's all that matters. I hated my thinning hair (even though it wasn't horribly noticable) but I love the shaved smooth look and feel. Now I know I didn't like the feel of hair and definitely didn't like the look of thin receding hair.

Welcome! Don't worry about the reactions....in a few days it won't be a big deal and everyone will just start to see you as you are now.

You're going to be surprized how little reaction you get, it's sort of disappointing. Just remember it was you, not your associates, that were going through the angst of balding. For them, you were just another guy getting old. But, now betting you look a lot younger, whatever comments will be mostly complimentary. -

Good luck when you head back to work. After a day or two, you won't even think about it. And since you're liking the look more and more, I think you'll stick with it. It's a great look!

Congratulations on your decision to shave it off. I am confident that you will not only continue to be happy with your decision but wish you'd done it sooner.
Your concern about initial reactions from others is very normal, but as the other guys said, this will likely be a non-event. People have an initial reaction and then move on to their own issues, and then it's done.
