My coverage of choice for winter (or what passes for it down here) is a Navy watch cap -- a type of beanie.
A couple of times a year during the winter I have to go to upstate NY--that's professional grade cold so when I go I wear a "beanie" or hat like those shown here:http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/38066?feat=2-SR0My melon's too big for a tea cozy thank you very much. The only drawback with beanies can be that on a freshly peeled peach in the morning they can tend to slide up and off . Otherwise, any hat with seams or sewing on the inside irritates my scalp . If the SBG beanies are lined, yes I'd wear one when I have to go to such extreme temperatures. Otherwise, I prefer nothing on the dome except sunscreen.
. Or if its really really REALLY cold, I wear a fur-lined hat with flaps that cover my ears (I bought it in NYC), but I dont know what they're actually called. I think I have a picture somewhere
