All I can say is WOW !!!

My hairdresser (Patti) and I had so much fun ripping the rug off and shaving. She moved the chair around so I could not see until it was done. She was great. She used some lotion to open up the pours and as always, did a great job. I will miss her but we will always be friends.

So the first look in the mirror and I could not stop laughing. We both laughed. Not because it looked bad. In fact it looks GREAT !! It was just such a change. Such a difference, I can’t explain it.

We laughed for what seemed like an hour. I was loving it. I was concerned about the shape of my head etc.. but I have to say, I have a great head for this !!!

I sat in the parking lot after just looking in the car rearview mirror laughing with joy. I am loving this. Freedom !! I can actually swim now and it really does look fantastic !!!

After stopping for a cold one I went to see the parents. They were thrilled ! I then went home and was contemplating whether or not to shave it completely down.. decided I would go for it. I shaved my head completely. Didn’t really know what the hell I was doing and it will take some practice to get it right but all I know is it felt absolutely unbelievable !!!

I kept looking in the mirror after trying to figure out who that was staring back at me. Definitely need some color. I tried using some self tanning lotion but it did not seem to do much. That’s okay, still looks good ( in my eyes) and I have 7 days in 105 degree sun to get it tanned.

The wife has still not seen it yet but I don’t think she will be disappointed. My son came over because he wanted to see it. He  said it looks great !!!

Not a fan of the grey shadow on the sides but I know this will pass as I learn more about how to take care of it.

I know each and every one of you said over and over again that it would be the best decision in my life, that you would not regret it, that it would set you free. Each and every one of you were absolutely RIGHT !!! I feel so free ! I feel great !! Can’t wait to go on vacation ! And as you have all said, I have no idea why I waited so long to do this. Should of done this years ago.

Of course I haven’t faced my coworkers yet but to be honest, not worried a bit about it. I think it looks great and that’s all that matters.

One note, on the way of out of my service, there was a guy sitting in the waiting room. Patti and  came out laughing. I had a hat on but after I left Patti called me and said she asked the guy how old he thought I was and he said 40. Not bad for a 48 year old guy !!!

I don’t know what to say.. I love it !! love it !!! So happy I did it !!!

It does look great. You might be stressed the first time you see people at work but it quickly passes. In one week, this will be your new normal. Like I said before, I'm excited for you.

Not bad! Welcome to the Sly life! If you're lucky your wife wont be able to keep her hands off of it. Just keep in mind the sunscreen, even in winter it is possible to get sun burn

I think the wife is still in shock but she says she likes it.

I was feeling such a high before when it was first done but now I think I am coming down a little. Don't get me wrong, still love it. No regrets AT ALL ! but maybe just not use to the new me yet. Wierd feeling.

I see a couple red spots in the back. Can't tell if that is from the shave or from the self tanning lotion I used. I think it was from the lotion which should wash off.

What a feeling.. erased all my hair appointments from my calendar. Packing now for vacation and I don't need the usual 2 sq meters of space for hair products !! Love it !!! What was I thinking all these years !

Wonder what my students will think ? Wonder what my coleagues will think ? Your right .. who CARES I am happy !!!

I have about 3 red spots too since day one that have not gone away. When I see the electrologist next month, she'll probably make them go away. Sometimes a hair gets caught under the skin and causes it. She's made lots of spots disappear on my neck over the years.

Have fun on vacation. Don't rush the tanning of your head because a burn will hurt like hell and then you'll have a flaking, peeling scalp!  When you first shave you may get spots (I did). They may just be some irritation or possibly hairs. That's why it's important to use an astringent. After you shave for a while, your scalp will toughen up and the red spots will be few and far between.

Glad you took our counsel and went sly. You won't regret it!

Could be a little of the "Who's the dude in the mirror?" syndrome--it passes.

Oh, and did you tell us what happened to the dead rat? >:D

I agree.  It does take a little getting used to and it' not unusual to have a bit of mixed emotions after the initial euphoria wears off.

Can't thank everyone enough for the advice, counsel and support. I have plenty of sun screen and will use it. I do want color but I learned from you guys to take it slow.

The dead rat..... left it where it belonged .. at the shop in the garbage as I was smiling on the way out the door !!!

Update you when I get back !!!

You really do look good sly.  Go easy on your wife - she said she liked it, so take her at her word.  Just like you, she's adjusting to your new look.  The most important thing is that you like it.  From your first post, we could all sense there was a sly guy dying to get out.  Well, he's out now - so go with it and enjoy your new freedom.

One last thing - shaving your head can be addicting.  You'll experiment to find a routine that works for you and then really look forward to it because afterward, the look and feel of a freshly shaved dome are great!
