I've had my left ear pierced since about 1992. Because I was in the Air Force until 2007, my ability to wear an earring went from only off-duty to only off-base and all over again because of changing regulations.
Today, I work for for my State's Dept of Agriculture and it's a rather conservative group of folks so I've gone mostly ring free for the past three years.
I'm not sure if it's mid-life crisis (I turn 50 this week) or just a feeling that I no longer give much of a crap what others think of me now that I'm older and retired from the AF, but I put a bent barbell in a few weeks ago and, with the encouragement of our daughter, I put in a capture bead ring last week. No one at work has said boo other than, "New ring?" Just goes to show that my mind messes with me more than other people ever do.
Reading some of the posts here, I'm starting to play around with the idea of having the right ear pierced as well. Maybe on my birthday.
I'm not a gold guy, but I like some of the steel and silver rings I've seen at The Chain Gang. Can't remember who recommended them here in the forum, but thanks much. You've given me some great ideas.
If anyone knows of any other good sites for earrings, I'd appreciate the input.
I really think you should do it, BUt I also think you should pierce both lobes to a 12 or even 10 t start out with. I am at a 10 wearing a silver stud and LOVE IT. piercing to a 10 would not hurt much.
As for earrings,
http://minkymonky.com/ear-gauges-plugs-c-252.html is a great site. Cheap and a large selection.
Up until I gauged my lobes bigger and went to silicone tunnels I was buying from Body Circle
http://www.bodycircle.com/They are expensive, but the jewelry is top notch. I'm still considering getting myself a pair of 00 gauge rings. They have some new ones that the ball screws on instead of having to open the ring to put the ball in. Makes it much easier to take them off. I can't imagine trying to sleep with 00 gauge rings in my ears.
