I've never really been a Dreamer but.......
Many of you know that I have a serious love of motorcycling. My Dad instilled that in me from the time I was about 11 years old. Dad actually put my skinny little butt on the driver's seat of a motorcycle for the first time when I was 12 years old. It was at a "Learn to Ride" program sponsored by Yamaha... 100 cc dirt bike as I recall. I've loved motorcyles almost my whole life.
Dad used to put me on the back of his bike and take me everywhere with him when I was 12 thru 15 years old. Dad hasn't ridden a bike since about 1980 or so.
Dad is 76 years old next month and honestly.... he's fading on us. His health is just not great. He's not really thrilled that I ride but he understands. He still runs out to his driveway everytime I pull in on the bike. Even asks questions now and then. He's amazed at the technology on the bikes now.
So my Dream is simple........... I really want to take my Dad for a ride on my Bike. Just me and him out in the wind just like 40 years ago....... except that he'll be in the back and me in the front. I want some photos of me and Dad on the bike before, during, and after the ride.
I've never told Dad this but recently I've had the feeling that it's time to do it. I know that he will probably resist but this is so important to me. I'm going to sit him down later this week and have a talk about this with him. If I can convince him to go, I'll post up some photos in a week or so.
So tell me about your dream. Something important to you.... and I don't mean stuff like winning the lottery. I mean things that matter.
That's a really wonderful dream and I hope you are able to achieve it. It will help your Father keep an interest in life and maybe it can become something he'll look forward to. When we have things to look forward to, IMO, we continue to live. I've got to think of what I "dream" about, I'm one of the lucky few who are still planning and doing.
