I look less... wait... what?!

Weird comment today. Actually, two similar comments from two different people who were seeing my sly for the first time.
 
The first came from a woman who admitted that her mother used to tell her to never trust a man who had facial hair "and wanted to hide himself behind something." She said she liked my sly look -- both shaved head and shaved face -- and said it made me look "more approachable." I guess that's a good thing, eh? (Didn't know I looked "less approachable" before, but... well...)
 
The second was more out of the blue. Someone simply said, "You look less sinister this way." I look less... wait... what?! I used to look sinister? And now that I've got the bald Lex Luthor thing going I'm "less sinister?" What the heck does that even mean?

Here are a few "before" shots from different angles. Notice that I didn't have hardly any hair to begin with; I kept the MPB fuzz clipped really short. But I had some fuzz on my face, and I think that's what looks so different to people.

No, nothing sinister there, and I don't think you were any more or less approachable-looking, but I think the sly look is an improvement for you.  You should seriously consider keeping the noggin shaved when the play's run is over.

Who knows why people say what they do but that woman is obviously not a facial hair fan.  And I'm guessing that she's the type that, if you'd shaved a fuller head of hair, she'd think you were less approachable now.

Everything is relative. Less "this" doesn't necessarily that you were a lot "this".

On the other hand, the look you portray in your avatar screams "nice guy". Sly suits you well.
