Hey Everyone,
I decided to just do it. I am glad I did.
22 years old and have had a bad case of seborrheic dermatitis would rate it 8/10 in terms of annoyance since 16 years old. My head was constantly itchy to the point where I would scratch it till it bleed. I knew my scalp was red as I could see through my hair. I went to many doctors who all said the same thing - use shampoo X or shampoo Y w/ Tar.. Some worked alright but it would always come back within a day. The doctors then gave me Steroid cream - which was some what working but terrible to apply with hair..
After scouring the internet for information I came across one of
schro's post's on this forum about his success over dermatitis going Sly. I had to try it.
Before gathering the go-nads to do it I completely avoided it. "What will I look like", "What will friends and family say", "My head is too pale", "What if I just find that the Seb. stays even with I'm bald then I'll know I'm stuck with it bald or not!!" and the list of reasons not to shave went on and on blah-blah-blah bla bla. But finally I decide why does it freakin' matter what I look like bald .. It matters what I feel like - and there was a possibility that the painful Seb.Derm would be gone.
So I did it. And wow. Just wow. The red itchy scaled growth I called my scalp showed it self. I couldn't believe how terribly bad my scalp looked (because of the Seb) - like a red bumpy no man's land from WW1. The first night I could barely sleep - Mostly I was thinking 'WHAT THE F---------------??!!!?!" "I can't even show myself in public now!" But then I noticed it wasn't itchy, not even a little not even at all. Well the negative thinking went on for about a week but slowly but surely the redness kept lessening and my scalp kept looking more like -- uhh a scalp. After 7-10 days it was completely gone. Best decision I ever made.
Thank you schro for telling your experience so I could find the help I needed and thanks to everyone on this forum. I hope someone see's this post and can see that there is a solution to the terrible annoyance that is seborrheic dermatitis -- going Sly!
One note:
Like schro if I don't shave for around 5 days the itch slowly comes back and red bumps start to come back but after shaving again it's all gone the next morning.
Shaving was pretty easy enough to get the hang of.
Shower the head for 3 min with hot water.
Get out. Shave noggin' with the grain.. I'm happy with the grain and don't think I'll ever try against
Ears were difficult at first .. way easier now.
Get back in shower put shampoo on, feel for missed spots and take care of 'em
Then after I just apply some cheap Aloe Gel. Head has never felt better -- eer

Thanks again!
