I've changed my routine...
« on: April 17, 2007, 07:07:40 PM »
Although I prefer the slick feeling, I have started shaving every other day instead of every day.  When I shave, it seems that I get a closer shave and my scalp is a whole lot healthier.  I don't have to use HeadLube unless I just want to.  Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?

You're definitely going to get a closer shave if you skip a day in between.  The longer stubble is more easily grabbed by the razor.   You have to weigh that benefit against the downside of only being perfectly slick every other day.  I did the every-other-day thing for a while, but finally decided I preferred being smooth every day.  Most people aren't going to notice the difference between freshly shaved and one days' growth, so it all comes down to whatever you prefer.

On the other side of the coin, I cannot shave more than once a day as some people here have said they do.   A second shave in the same day doesn't get me any smoother because the stubble isn't long enough for the razor to be able to do its job.

I find that my skin gets more irritated if I don't shave every day.  Does that happen with anyone else?

My scalp gets dry and flaky when I shave every day.  I can control it with the HeadLube.  I love the close shave I get when I shave every other day.  Is there any way to get that shave every day?

I've noticed that I can stay smooth longer if it's every other day, but really prefer my daily morning shave so I start each day smooth.  Really getting to the point I can't tolerate even that sandpaper feel of the next morning. I don't have any of the dryness you talk about, but then I have a more oily skin type.

:) I'm with RazorX on this one, although I shave daily; it's a kind of affirmation of my bald identity. Occasionally I skip on Saturday, but then I shave with a vengeance on Sunday morning. While not yet a fanatic, I am growing to hate the stubble and seek complete smoothness. Is there such a thing as "cranial fascination"? Increasingly, a man with a full head of hair strikes me as a man without an identity, a personality not yet emerged from protective covering. A man with a comb-over, conspicuous plugs, or a rug strikes me as a pathetic fraud. These are reasons I hope Hollywood will feature bald heroes and lovers. I have little or no nostalgia for the haired guy I used to be; that was then, this is now. And we have no time to moon over the irretrievable past. One of the great things about baldness is that it it serves for the duration. Once established in a man's identity, it is dependable for the rest of his life. I wish I had come to it sooner. I'm a mix of those, Slick. With the scalp condition I had, it's best for the health of my scalp to shave everyday. However, I do enjoy the extra smoothness of a shave after not shaving the day prior. However, unless I'm in a hurry, I will inevitably reach for the HeadBlade and HeadSlick and proceed to give the SchroDome the once over.

vary your shaving times sometimes in the morning some times at night before bed then when you have that day that you absolutly want to be slick there is enough there to shave but you still have enough there for the razor to get that super smooth shave.

This last week I let it grow to a shadow then shaved and it was awsome.

I can't stand when I can feel resistance when I rub my head.   Thus I shave daily, plus I enjoy shaving and it's just part of my daily routine.

I agree, I love the shave that I get when I skip a day, but I can't bear to have that much stubble on my head. I shave everyday and I've noticed that it does indeed take me longer to shave than it does when I skip a day. I guess I say whatever makes you feel the best but I, for one, can't stand not being smooth.

I can only speak with 4 days experience, but love the smooth feeling and don't like the sandpaper feel. I'm enjoying the shaving experience to think about skipping a day.

I'm an every day guy as well.  Something just isn't right if my scalp isn't smooth.

I love my dome to be smooth and can't stand the slightest bit of stubble but I do usually skip a day in between just to give my scalp a rest.  Plus like others have said, I do notice it does give a better quality shave with a little more stubble.

Exactly my sentiments...I'm a little obsessed with being slick, bald 24/7.... as much as is humanly possible that is...which in turn makes me 100% SLY, 24/7 as much as is humanly possible that is 8)!
