22 Bored at Home on Spring Break
«

Like it says, I'm 22, I'm bored with my roomates chillin' in Lex while everyone is in Florida probably getting drunk. I got bored so I shaved my own head. Haven't done this before but I've considered it. Anyhow...
My scalp is still a little bit pale, luckily it is gonna' be 67 tomorrow and I plan to get a good bike ride in so I'll get some sun that way.
How long should it take to match scalp color to skin color? Secondly, my head feels a bit like sandpaper, I don't know if I shaved close enough? I didn't really apply much pressure. Any good tips? I'm gonna' do the thirty day challenge thingy majig and see how it goes, worst case scenario someone makes fun of me and I'll just reflect some sun into their eyes.
AND SCREW IT IM BUYING A HEADBLADE RIGHT NOW.
If you're gonna' do something do it right, right?

I'm a newby, but you can kill the sandpaper feel by starting with the grain, and then going back against the grain. You don;t need too much pressure. Just 2 different angles of attack withg the blade. You can even the tan up in just a day or two if the weather rcooperates, Gio slow with the headblade. It is treacherous in th ebeginning, but usu8eful once you have ity under control

Got the nice clean feel, did manage to nick my ear up though, oh well. Got a fairly decent shave in for day two in under 10 minutes.
My friends keep calling it weird looking, I use to have a full mop of hair so that's understandable. Time to get some paint on the dome.

Some color. The transition from hair to no hair left me a little pale back there, should go away next week though with all the walking to class I gotta' do.

Right on AK!
You're probably the first to ever list "boredom" as a reason to shave your head.

AKbald7, welcome to the best bald forum on the Internet
Be careful getting some color; a scalp burn is worse than most any other burn on the body (with little exception
) If you want some slow color, Jergens has some 3 day gradual tan in a squeeze bottle that is awesome and has good color to it. Look around on here. There's a thread or two about it. Great stuff!

Welcome, looks like you shaved 4 days before I did. Love the boredom story, that's awesome and I'll bet your friends are really envious that you're SLY and they're not.

Welcome AK! Like wpruitt said, make sure you dont burn up there. get some sort of spf for your head. I use a neutrogena product thats SPF 45 since I have oily skin as it is, so it helps keep down the pimples and bumps. Nothing worse than shaving a sunburned head.
