Hat whole burn
«

So I've started training for a marathon. Yesterday I ran 5 miles and it was a beautiful sunny day. I wore a hat to keep sweat out of my eyes but neglected to put sunscreen on and got a sunburn where the hat didn't cover me. Like the bottom of the back of head and the hole on the back of the hat. Felt like a "person of walmart". Anyone have any tricks to this not happening other than wearing sunscreen?

I had that burn last summer, only it was a trucker hat, the kind with the mesh on the back half, so I had the half moon burn on my forehead (wore the hat backwards), and white stripe tanlines from the seams, that made my head look like a basketball, lol. On top of that all, I had the reverse raccoon look from my sunglasses. I can't offer much advice, except sun block, and do-rags.

I just ran a marathon. I recommend going to a good running store and buying some kind of running hat. It will be more comfortable and keep you cooler than a regular cap, plus it will solve the hole in the back problem. Putting sunblock on in addition to the hat is a good idea too, especially the parts not covered by the hat.

I bought a hat a couple of years ago that I use for fishing. It's kinda like a baseball cap with, for lack of a better word, a veil on the back that covers my neck. It also has a larger bill than a regular baseball cap. It's nylon fabric but breathes better than you'd expect. I bought mine at Gander Mountain and probably most outdoor shops carry some version.

I wore hats (baseball caps mostly) more often when I had hair. Now I can't stand em - too hot, too itchy, etc. Will wear a hoodie if it's cold out, or will suffer with an actual hat if it gets downright frigid - but other than that, I stick with a naked head.

If you hate hats, then I think the highst
SPF
sunscreen you can find is your
best bet
...otherwise it's a
50-50

@thebreeze, it was a nike running hat that i was wearing. The hat rocks! Feels not there and once you sweat through it it acts like an air conditioner, blocks the sun in the eyes and keeps sweat out of your eyes. I've solved the sunburn problem by using sunscreen. I was just stupid that day thinking "i'm wearing a hat".

I have done this in the past whilst wearing a cycling helmet 16 tan spots on my head. For running have a look at cotton cycling caps, not a lot of vetalation but usualy very tin cotton so not much of a problem, and they tend to be relativly cheap.
