Hi from Wales
« on: November 23, 2010, 05:55:48 PM »
Hi everyone, been reading the forum for a few weeks now and have managed to relate to a lot of the posts that people have written and also find comfort in some so thanks to you all for that  O0

A little about myself..I'm 25 years old, from Wales and have been losing my hair since around 21 years old. I still haven't had the confidence to shave it off just yet, even though it is becoming very noticable that i am losing it. I am however starting to accept the fact that i will be bald in the future and am no longer in denial that it may stop falling out, there may be a cure etc.

Im sure you hear this a lot but the main thing that is putting me off shaving it completely now is that i have a weird shaped head. In my case i have a long thin head and large forehead meaning that the gap between the top of my head and my eyes is roughly the same as from my eyes to the bottom of my chin. This has become a bit of an obsession for me and i often find myself pulling my hair back in front of the mirror and trying to imagine what i'd look like bald. When you all first shaved your heads did you first think it looked strange? I'm pinning a lot of hope on the fact that i've always had my hair quite long (especially when i was younger) and so the reason i think it looks 'weird' is simply because im not used to it.

I often have days when i feel depressed but im just trying to put things into perspective at the moment. I still have good health for example, a loving family and lots of friends. I suppose another of my insecurities is that people may treat me differently when i take the plunge.

I'm going away with friends to travel the world next year and so im going to go for the sly look at the beginning of this trip, and hopefully i'll manage to accept my new look before seeing the majority of people. Does this sound silly? I'm quite an insecure person anyway and im hoping this will help with the transition.

Thanks again for the support that i've received from reading posts on here and i hope to become an active member of the community.  :)

Welcome to the forum Believer!

Don't worry so much about the shape of your noggin.  Head shapes are like opinions, everybody has one and they all are different.  Grab your razor and go for it!  Check out the head shaving sections and get some tips from the pros here at SBG!
Give me a bucket of drywall mud and a 6" taping knife, and I'll show you a new way to resurface your carpet.

Welcome to the forum, Believer...

Go for the Sly look, dude, and let nature take its course. I think you will be very much amazed at the number of POSITIVE responses you will get once you go sly.

At 53 years of age, I still get a lot of positive comments - and every time I do, I am absolutely both pleasantly surprised, amazed, and puzzled all at the same time!! :D

Whatever the reason causing people to comment as they do, I cherish the moments as you will too.

Moral of the story: Go for it!! You won't regret it!!

Welcome aboard Believer!  O0

My lovely bride had the pleasure of visiting Wales a few years ago.  Things went quite well for the most part...

Welcome, believer.    Don't be afraid to go sly.  I think you will find that shaving will actually minimize your worries about you appearance.  First off, none of us has the "perfect" head.   As you read some of the posts you will find we all have imperfections that worried us at first.    And since your concern seems centered around the length of your forehead, with no hairline, there is will not be such a marked contrast.

Welcome to SBG!
Don't worry about your head's shape. I'm sure it is within normal parameters. And you shouldn't wait and think about how it will look and how people will react and so on for months(?) - how about making a Christmas present to yourself by going sly before the holidays? O:O

Hello Believer! I'm so glad you could join our happy group.  Just remember, we are who we are, with or without hair.  Those that care about you accept you as you are.  Sure, some inconsiderate fool will make a negative responce,  So what? It's not the end of the world.  And always remember, live your life for youself and most of the world will accept you from the inside out!  O0

If you can Google up facial proportions you'll find that your face is proportionate.  Remember, you have had some mpb going on and like many of the guys here at the time you're making this decision you're looking at what some have jokingly called a five or six head, not a "four" head.  Relax, take it down it will grow back--except for the hair that was going to fall out in the meantime whatever you did!

I don't remember much from art class in HS, but I do remember that when drawing the human face an oval is to be drawn, eyes placed at the center with a line of equal length from the eyes to the top of the head and from the eyes to the chin. Your head is not oddly shaped. It actually fits ideals taught.
