I did it for 9 weeks and then got distracted with business and family issues. I could definitely see a difference. Following the proposed meal plan was impossible for me due to having two teenagers playing sports - eating out too much. However, I cut out the between meal snacks and the bedtime cookies and milk and found that this helped me immensely. I hope to start again the first of February. P90X is not for the faint of heart. I would only do it after you are in some type of shape. Starting with no base of exercise is a killer.
Starting with no base of exercise is a killer.
I would agree with Steve, the reason P90X is so 'effective' is because most people dive into it having never committed to an exercise program before. I would argue that you could get the same weight-loss results from just jumping rope or doing any type of cardio, and dieting.
If I were you, I would determine my desired target weight and get at or near that mark doing through dieting and cardio before you start P90X. Once you have dropped some weight, doing all those body-weight exercises will be MUCH easier. You will probably be able to achieve a higher range of motion and perform the moves correctly if you don't have the extra baggage. Also consider the less-intense (and cheaper) P90, which is tailored to those of us who are not already in great shape.
imo p90x is the best program to date not to mention the best selling excersize and nutrition program in history.
Do what it says and it will work like it says.

Actually, you can dive into without any previous exercise programs. But, you have to listen to your body when you are doing the DVDs... I bought it and started it right away. I did what I could when I started... which wasn't very much. As time progressed, my weight dropped and I was doing more and more each day!
I really like the P90X workout. I did it solid for 7 weeks and then started a remodel and school at the same time and it sort of fell off. After thanksgiving and looking forward to christmas I am going to give it another shot. I was thinking of doing the workout every-other day. Does anyone have any experience with that, or to be effective does it need to be everyday?
You can do it every other day, but you won't get the same results... It is better than doing nothing though! Good Luck!
