Silly question!
« on: September 08, 2010, 06:49:50 AM »
HI Baldies!

Simple question: As stated previously, I buy three blade razors at the $ store (5 razors for $1)

WILL A BETTER RAZOR, LIKE GILLETTE Glide will remove MORE "HAIR," or it will not change anyting ? Will the "shadow" on the side be less visible?!

ty!

it really depends, headblade works very well for some and very poorly for others(like me)

Also nothing will remove the shadow most likely, even with a perfect close shave I still have a shadow because my hair is dark brown.

Most of the time when you buy the more expensive razors your paying for the brand name. Not usually a big difference in quailty, but there mite be. When it comes down to it a razors a razor, anything will do the job. I buy 10 mach 3 razors for $25. So your makin a steal.  O0

First off you should check yourself out in the mirror way less. Nobody cares about your shadow except you. ::)

As an experiment I bought cheap blades from the €-Store lately. Result: You can actually shave with them, but it's no fun. The next day I had sore muscles in my arm. :D

There are differences. As always, the most expensive ones are not necessarily the best for you, but you have to find out for yourself which you like best.

I agree with the guys above.  I still try different razors trying to find the best ones, and it will definitely vary from person to person.  Hopefully one that works well for you will also be inexpensive!  My local dollar store sells ones that work well for me, so I suspect that you can find something with a decent cost/benefit ratio.  Now is the time for you to experiment with different brands.

I buy the Schick Xtreme 3 - comfort plus  - -22 razors for less than $20.00 at Sam's Club

They work for me and I have very little "shadow"  unless I skip shaving for a few days  - -  I shave  at least once a day and most of the time twice
I hate the shadow  and the fuzz on top  - - - I like my dome smooth and slick  and love the shine

If they work well and they are cheap..................let us in on the secret!  My experience with the few dollar store brands that I have used hasn't been great.  They tend to be not as sharp.  But if you have found a diamond in the rough, post them up  O0  Everyone knows what kind I use  ;D

I'm a Mach 3 user.  Any time I've tried to save money or used someone else's cheap razor in a pinch it hasn't worked out well.   For me I get irritation and the shave isn't as good and takes longer to do.
As far as getting a closer shave to reduce shadow, there are many factors at play here.
What you're using and your shave routine affects that too.

That's just what works for me.

My experience has been that you get a better shave with a blade that is a little more expensive. I've bought some razors that cut nothing but my skin. It's not worth the saving. I look for brand name razors and blades at a good price.

I don't spend over 5 bucks a month on razors.  A pack of CP3's last me about a week a piece.  I also keep a pack of Personna Atra knock offs if I'm feeling froggy.  They are about 4 bucks for 10.  As far as stick razors, I usually keep a box of M5's on hand too.  I like the Mach 3 but they are too pricey.  The Fusion in any fashion is a piece of junk.  I haven't tried the Hydro, but it has to be better than the ProGlide.

Like I posted before, I started off using my wife's Gillette Venus razor. The cartridges are expensive, I haven't found a store brand for them yet. The Gillette Venus was an awesome razor. I use my headblade now with store brand women's Gillette Sensor blades. I use women's because they don't cause irritation Where I get the store brand Gillette Sensor blades, the women's come with 5 blades, while the men's only have 4 in a pack.
Another great razor I found and it's really cheap, were the three blade Women's razors found at the Dollar Tree. Of course they are only a $1, everything is a dollar there,  :*))  for three razors. There are three razors in a pack so that's only $0.33 1/3 a razor. If you want a cheap razor that works really great, I recommend those. They get a really close shave and I've broken out more from my Headblade than the Dollar Tree razors. I a headblade, but I put the cartridge on backwards because i don't get razor burned if I do it that way.

you know what they say right a silly question deserves a silly answer....

Will a better Razor give you a better experience Sure you beat cha but will a crappy razor give you the same experience with a good routine and plenty of time quite possibly. it all boils down to weather you take that left or not.

With the 10 pack personna even with good techinque they make me break out. There are alot of razors that break me out that are more expensive than the Dollar Tree ones.

Not a silly question at all...this is how we all learned the way of SLY.. by asking our questions here on the forum...

I find the pic above generally demonstrates the "typical" results between a CHEAP razor vs. one of QUALITY!!

As I said, there are no silly questions... silly answers....maybe... but silly questions...NEVER!!  :D

Seriously, though, it all depends upon YOUR PERSONAL PREFERENCE WEAPON OF CHOICE and the OVERALL QUALITY of the BLADE itself!!

It's whatever gives YOU the best shave that YOU are satisfied with!

As mentioned previously, what works great for others may not necessarily work great for you... it's more of a
"let the razor choose you"
type of thing!!

Many great reviews here within the forum on the various razors currently on the market!

Take the time to review the ones you like and head for the nearest store!!  :)
