Thansgiving Break
« on: November 22, 2010, 02:18:04 PM »

Since most colleges have Thanksgiving Break this whole week, but we have school Monday and Tuesday many alums have been coming back to say hi. I was shocked that not one of the kids who came to visit said anything about my shaved head. They sat down and talked about old times as if nothing about me were any different at all. All that worrying, all that money for rugs and concealers, all that time spent in the mirror, for what? Everybody treats me now like they did when I had "hair". The only guy who still rags on me is my best friend whose had his head shaved since college. I just can't believe that I wasted so much time and energy on maintaining the illusion of hair when after a few weeks nobody cares at all.

Jack, great post!  I think you've summed up what we talk about here in one simple paragraph.  The reality is that we are more worried about it than anyone else.
People are not limited by the circumstance that they are born in. They are limited by the size of their dreams. Show them that their dreams can have no limits and in turn their accomplishments can be limitless.

Many of us have been in those same shoes, spending too much time worrying about what others are going to think and say.  For me, shaving my head was the signal that I'm over it, and man what a good feeling that is.  Glad you've arrived there too, Jack.

I don't know why they would rag on you, you look good with a shaved head. Since your other friend has his head shaved than your friends would be used to someone with a bald head. That's cool they were cool with your slyness. O0

I actually saw a picture of us from back in the day when we both had hair and I barely recognized him.

Nobody really cares. Some people say "oh you shaved your head" but almost all ractions are positive. Maybe an old aunt will say "you're ugly" but the absolute majority says we are better with a shaved head.
