The AZOR Razor from UK's "King Of Shaves"
« on: August 14, 2010, 02:17:54 PM »
Has anyone here ever tried the AZOR razor from the UK company,"The King of Shaves"?

While I have seen the shaving gel and shaving oil products here in places like CVS Pharmacy and Wally Mart, I've yet to see the other products of the series in local stores. In fact, if it wasn't for a small sticker on the latest tube of KoS gel I recently purchased advertising the razor, I wouldn't have even known about it, nor the other KoS skin products...

King of Shaves website (USA version): http://www.shave.com/kos/usa
Note: Click on the AZOR link@ the top of the page to see info on the razor.

I think the main store here in the USA that carries most of the product line (including the razors) is in Manhattan. (If I remember correctly, I think the name of the store is Duane Reade)

Just curious if anyone here, whether in the Manhattan area, across the country, or across the "pond" (in UK) has ever tried the razor, and if so, what do you think of the product?

Thanks, in advance.

I got as far as looking at it in a shop, then decided against it.  Looks sorta like a potato peeler!! :D

Hi Noodles - I just wanted to give you a heads-up on Duane Reade.  They're a local NYC and surrounding area drugstore/pharmacy chain like CVS or Walgreens.  Can't comment on how good the Azor Razor is, but you can pick them up on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_4?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=azor+razor&x=0&y=0&sprefix=azor&ih=5_1_1_0_0_0_0_0_0_1.188_164&fsc=-1.

I recently placed an order for the KoS "Azor M series" Razor. "Azor M" is the latest, improved version of the original razor. Once it's delivered and I get to use it, I'll post my comments / experience here for all to see.

The MORE I read about this razor, the more I HAD to try it!! O:O

Excellent Shave Results!!

Yesterday I received my order from King of Shaves (company HQ based in the UK, but one or two product shipping warehouses also located here in USA).

Besides ordering the Azor Razor (the AZOR "M", with an alloy handle is the latest, IMPROVED version of the original razor series, I also ordered the shave gel for sensitive skin, along with their face scrub. The alloy handle allows for better handling, over the previous version (so, they say).

Initially I was skeptical when I first saw this online, not only because of its "potato-peeler - tuning fork" type design, but its inexpensive price, as well.

As a matter of fact, the entire product line is very inexpensive, as compared to the other top brands currently on the market.

Gotta' admit though, guys, I was throughly impressed with the end results that this razor, along with the other KoS  products used, dished out.

Generally, stores that presently carry a portion of the KoS line - stores such as CVS and Rite-Aid ONLY seem to carry the small bottles of shaving oil and the Alpha Shaving Gel, which are excellent, but the KoS website has an assortment of quality products that bring shaving to a whole new level that not only help to lubricate your skin while shaving, but help keeps your melon well moisturized (but not greasy) long after you're finished.

Overall, the Azor Razor and the various shaving products within the series are of a standard that is well above "excellent" in my book!!

There is somewhat of a slight learning curve on the most efficient way to get the closet shave using the Azor, due to its design, but no more of a learning curve than when attempting to use the HeadBlade for the very first time.

Is it worth ditching my HeadBlade and giving up the HB totally?

No, but it's now my No. 2 choice, and a great alternate that I will definitely keep within arm's reach.

Overall Rating:

NOODLES, the king of shaves kintexium shaving oil is a product well worth trying, it is miles better than the alpha shaving oils in the same range, slightly more expensive than the other oils in their range, but it is the best shaving oil on the market in my opinion [ havent tried shave secret, not available this side of the pond] :@` :@` :@`

I feel the same about King of Shaves as I do about Headblade - their products are ok, apart from their razors :(

The razors are dirt cheap here, and they (and all the products) are available just about everywhere (supermarkets, drug stores, petrol/gas stations, etc), but I think the results are disappointing. After one or two shaves, the blades are as blunt as a spoon, and IMO, shaving with one of their razors feels more like scraping the hair off your head/face than shaving it off. It does take a while to learn how to use one of their potato peelers, but even once that stage has been passed, I always found the results disappointing. They remind me of a flexible version of a Bic disposable razor.

A friend of mine works for Boots (large drug store chain in the UK and elsewhere), and he told me a few weeks ago that they receive more complaints and returns on KoS products than on any other mens grooming product, and I wasnt exactly surprised.

Haven't tried the Azor on my head but did try it on my face a few months back. I was interested in it as it was much cheaper than my Fusion but:
1) The technique to use it felt backwards and it therefore took longer for me to finish shaving.
2) The blades, while cheaper, didn't last as long as the Fusion blades. I'd get 2 good shaves out of the Azor while the Fusion cartridge would last me all week.

I do love the King of Shaves Alphagel I got with the Azor and continue to use it with my Fusion, but the Azor has been junked.
