Big Ears, is treatment right or wrong?

Hi guys

I am curious to know how people feel about treatment for people with large/protruding/uneven, ....etc ears?

As someone who has rather protruding/large ears and have been recieving stick for it for as long as I can remember, is treatment acceptable I am interested to know what others think? I always used to keep my hair fairly long in order to hide my ears. Until my hair started falling out and I shaved my head then there wasn't much hope of hiding them so I have mostly opted for f*** it this is how I look. Most of the time I forget and it doesn't really affect me, but occassionally I get comments about my ears, I have been told that I have large ears twice in the last few weeks which is a bit more frequent than usual and makes me wonder wether everyone is thinking it and are generally being polite and not saying anything. 
 
I notice mentioned on sites that apparently a large number of parents opt for treatment either surgery or pinning them back at a young age for their kids. I never recieved any such treatment and my parents would have been completely against it. Apparently according to plastic surgery sites bullying from a young age that children with prominent ears recieve can leave someone with psychological effects for life. Also apparently ear surgery is quick and easy etc. Are these similar to the gimics of hair transplant surgery? Personally I think the cosmetic surgery industry is a waste of time and money (apart from in severe situations where someone has been in an accident/other event that has resulted in deformities in appearance). The way I have heard some sites talk about ears are that they are a major deformity that should be corrected.

So am I right to stick to my guns, ignore comments from others and just stick to life with what I was given. Or do you think that there is a case for surgery to treat protruding ears? Has anyone experienced themselves or for someone they know treatment?

if you're comfortable with your ears I wouldn't see any point in doing it. But do whatever makes you happy.

You seemed to have answered the question--and IMO correctly.  All surgery carries the prospect of an unforeseen, and sometimes very bad outcome.  It doesn't seem to have adversely affected you so don't fix what ain't broke.

If you do surgery I think it would be of benefit to you for a few years. 
I think once you hit your 30s it will be a different story.  You will be hanging out
with people who will find absolutely nothing wrong with your ears.  And to tell
you the truth, from your photo I see nothing wrong at all.

At age 24 some immature people may occassionally make comments but I'm telling you dude
as days go on you will hear those comments less frequently.

Why look like everyone else?  God made you the way you are for a reason.  I don't think they look bad at all.  Probably don't stick out any more than mine and I haven't had any one say anything to me.  When I first jumped in the bald waters, I had people cutting on my all the time.  When I figured out how I was different, I took the comedian approach.  I found what everyone else found different about me and beat them to the punch.  Kind of broke the ice and gave them no ammunition.  I'm a tall ugly bald guy with big ears and my wife loves me anyway!  ;)
