GUINNESS. damn it's good. I'll let you into a little fact about a good pint of Guinness, you know it's good when you can draw a smiley face on the head, and the face is still there once the pint is finished. also if it takes you 6 sips, there should be 6 rings for each time you have had a sip.

It just isn't the same from the bottle.

Hi Mike:  As a beer lover... I didn't know that about Guinness beer.  I always thought the colder the better.  Thanks for sharing that Guinness info.

It will be a different experience if you try it like this. The problem in most places that serve Guinness (in the States) is that they do NOT know how to draw it from the draught properly. When Mark talked about that thick head on his beer..... I knew I should be sitting next to him enjoying one.

Most Pubs in the UK and the Republic serve their beer at room temperature Mel. Ask for a cold one and you give yourself away as a Yank evey time.

Mike, you're right. Almost room temperature is best. I learned that from this Brit that I worked with a few years ago. Ever have the Black and Tan? Quite delicious.

I'll stick with my West Coast beers (Sierra Nevada, Anchor Steam, Red Hook, Deschutes).

the "perfect pint" of Draught Guinness is the product of a "double pour", which according to the company should take 119.53 seconds  [per the brewer's website]
