Signs of Spring & end of winter?
« on: March 27, 2010, 09:20:19 AM »
Even though our winters in New Orleans can't be compared to the "professional grade" northern winters, this was the 6th coldest on record according to our weather report.  Although it's kept the crawfish expensive, we're finally getting some signs of spring.  Our citrus trees are loaded to the brim with buds--so I would guess by Easter our yard with be fragrant with the wonderful smell of orange, grapefruit and satsuma blossums.  The azaleas are all buds and so they'll also be making a nice show.
How about the rest of you, any signs that this past winter is loosening its grip on your lives?

Hence the name change... 'Global Warming' is now 'Climate Change'  Sorry, guys, but I couldn't resist.  Spring is here today, but last Saturday we had 6 inches of snow, gone in about a day, though.
How is that Hopey / Changey thing working for you?

1. Our normally white vehicles are showing yellow from pollen.
2. A full 24 hours without the heat on.
3. My annual aggrivation with my neighbor for not putting pre-emergent for crabgrass on his yard.

Our country demands all our strength, all our energies. To resist the powerful combination now forming against us will require every man at his place. If victorious we will have everything to hope for in the future. If defeated, nothing will be left for us to live for.

1. The trees are full of buds.
2. Bunnies are everywhere.
3. I waxed and polished the Harley in shorts and a t-shirt last week.

Crocus and daffodils are out, buds on the trees, a few bumble bees taking flight, and the weather is definitely warmer.  'British Summertime' starts tonight, so we also lose one hour! :)

I probably won't get much sympathy for this, but the weather here in central Florida has been horrible all winter.  Last year was a bitterly cold one too.  This was my 8th Florida winter, but it was the 1st that reminds me of a winter back north where I sit around for months looking forward to spring.  I think we've had more decent days this week than the rest of the year combined.  Every day was either chilly, cold, you've-got-to-be-kidding-me cold, rainy, or ridiculously windy.  We even had sleet on day!  Every decent day was followed by about a week's worth of payment involving all of the above.   I think this was the 4th decent day in a row, but tomorrow is supposed to rain.

My plants are dead and my Foxtail Palm that barely survived the last winter was quicky destroyed this winter.  Cold and rainy day after day after day... the Global Warming zealots are going to have to fudge even more numbers to cover up this inconvienent winter.
You don't know me, but I know you.
