Hey Gang!!

This is a revival of a thread started a couple years back in Exercise/Fitness:

Thought it would be appropo here in this Success section:

Share quotes that have inspired you or shaped your philosophy of Life and Success!!!

I love inspirational quotes, man.

One of my all-time favorites was introduced to me by WPruitt a couple years back and I believe still remains as part of his profile:

"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat." - Theodore Roosevelt

And then this simple, yet profound one:

"Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever......ever give up"  - Winston Churchill

Polarbear:
Great topic:

- There are two ways to get rich: earn more or desire less (I don't know whose quote that is)

- If I'd listened to my customers, I would have given them a faster horse (H. Ford)
(Which, to me, translates as "If you have a great idea, believe in it and make it happen")

- I can't give you a surefire formula for success, but I can give you a formula for failure: try to please everybody all the time (Herbert Bayard Swope)

- Perfection is not when there is no more to add, but no more to take away (Antione de Saint-Exupery)

- Be the chess player, not the chess piece (R. Charell)

A lot of there quotes come from the book "The Four Hour Workweek". I love that book.

wpruitt:
And those two quotes really go hand in hand.

Here's another one:

"Whether you think you can, or whether you can't, you're right." -- Henry Ford

Here are some of my favorite quotes from famous football coaches:

“Do right. Do your best. Treat others as you want to be treated.”
--Lou Holtz

"Build up your weaknesses until they become your strong points.”
--Knute Rockne

“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will.”
--Vince Lombardi

“The road to Easy Street goes through the sewer.”
--John Madden

“Winning isn't everything, but it beats anything that comes in second.”
--Paul "Bear" Bryant

And last but definitely not least....one of my personal favorites:

"Today, you have 100% of your life left."
--Tom Landry
