Movie Review : Wolfman
« on: February 27, 2010, 06:34:33 AM »
So I'm a big fan of Classic Horror movies. I live the original Wolfman, Dracula, Frankenstein, etc. I have a small collection of old Vincent Price Horror movies that I cherish.

So I had great hopes for the new "Wolfman" movie..... expecially with Benecio del Toro playing tha main character.

The movie was a BIG disappointment. The special effects were especially bad, the story not so great, and Anthony Hopkins should be embarassed that he ever agreed to be a part of this.
The story line didn't stay true to the original. It was, though, about a "six jumper movie"..... that's how many times I jumped at various things.

This is one to see on video if at all. Don't spend the money to see it in the movies.

One note: I took my 13 year old son and four of his friends to see it and they really liked it.

I was disappointed as well, but do believe I set the expectations bar a little too high as well...

Overall, I thought it would have been a great movie if they just added 10-20 minutes to it.  It was a relatively short movie, around and hour and forty minutes...and I just felt rushed through out it all.

I Must be the only one who enjoyed this movie. The bleak cloudy environment, the corny gore, were some of the things i LOVED about Wolfman. However, I will say that there were parts where the movie REALLLLYYY dragged on.

Overall I personally think its worth seeing at least once

If you think this movie was good, you should pull out a couple of the old classics. They are unbeatable.
Also, one of my favorite Werewolf movies of all time.... though not one of the original classics..... is "An American Werewolf in London". If you haven't seen it you should do yourself the favor. I believe it's from the early/mid 80's.
I haven't seen it in years but it's on my list of ones to buy.

I agree that it felt very rushed. Could have used an extra 20-30 minutes IMO
