This guy epitomizes the sly attitude
« on: March 16, 2010, 03:14:58 PM »
I just saw a great documentary about a band called The Pixies.  Truthfully, I was never into their music when I was younger, but after watching this documentary about their comback tour, I am a new fan.

The lead singer is Frank Black (aka Black Francis) and here is some footage of him shaving his head with a clipper backstage.

IMHO this guy epitomizes the sly attitude because, he is overweight, not the best looking guy around, but when he gets onstage he is a Rock God.  I also think he rocks the sly look and after watching this documentary, it got me back into being sly.  It really is all about confidence.

In one of the clips he is walking to the tour bus and kids in their 20s are calling him their idol.  By the way he is 45 years old.  It really is all about confidence.

Here is the link on You Tube - Enjoy:

Just goes to show that you don't need to be young, skinny and clad in tight leather jeans and stringy hair to rock out!  8)

"a band called the Pixies"?????  They are one of the most influential and seminal bands of the last thirty years!

I don't even know what the members look like but I think they are a great band who many types of music fans can enjoy.  It's poppy, it's punky, it's just great song writing, usually I like stuff heavier than that.

PS the youtube link isn't working.

Sorry about the link.  Not sure why it isn't working.

I know I said I wasn't into their music, but I worded that wrong.  I actually never heard of them until this documentary.  I was never into that type of music (i.e. grunge or alternative).  However, at 45 I now understand the appeal and I find this band amazing.

I guess I was too busy listening to Kiss and AC/DC at the time they were popular.

Kiss and ACDC rock too.  Different bands for different moods!

Very true.  The bad thing about middle age is when you fall in love with the music your 15 year old daughter listens to and know that you could never go see them live.  The two bands she turned me on to are Tegan and Sara and Paramore.  They are amazingly talented.  However, their audience is 15 to 20 somethings, so I could never enjoy seeing them in concert without looking creepy.  LOL.

I actually did take my daughter to see Tegan and Sara in NYC, but I think she is getting to the age where she rather go with her friends.

P.S. Dome of Steele who is that lady in your profile pic?
