You'll shave it down when you are ready little bro. Ignore the negative, embrace the positive and drive on!

I'll secound what TGB says there buddy , and as far as the kids around ya ,,just look at it as ignorance for joking about cancer . Once they sit with someone on Chemo that they love they will understand just keep on SMILEING and ask them if they ever had the guts to do somthing risky as you have and took the bull by the horns

Hey Cypher,
The Pics look good man. Go with the 0 length. Look, the thing is you are a pretty handsome dude and for a lot of men, losing hair is what happens to us. We are men, and we ought to own who we are and carry it well.
As a confidence booster it also helps to workout a little. Through a little muscle on. Get strong cardiovascular fitness . You'll be shining from the inside out. The sooner we face people with our (very manly) predisposition the more comfortable we will feel in our own skin.
Good luck mate.

Michael,
I know that it isn't easy but you need to go with what makes you happy
You look fine in these photos
Like in any change, there is an adjustment period and you need to be patient and strong to deal with the external pressures
So..take a deep breath and take one day at a time...you will be surprised
how quickly you will adapt
Remember, whatever you do, be happy with your choice
