I use Outlook and have that happen frequently with large files like videos. I thought it was a server issue but may be not? It won't delete either until I unplug my network cable. Here's a fix to try: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/262052 I don't think this is directly related though.Others suggest deleting the "outbox.dbx" file.
If it stalls sending attachments then try this1. Start Outlook Express.2. On the Tools menu, click Options.3. Click the Security tab, click and under Virus Protection clear the"Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" check box 4. Click OK.
If you do not want your messages to be divided into smaller messages before they are sent, disable this feature in Outlook Express. To do so, use the following steps: 1. Start Outlook Express, and then click Accounts on the Tools menu. 2. Click the Mail account you want to change, and then click Properties. 3. On the Advanced tab, click the "Break apart messages larger than <x> KB" check box to clear it. 4. Click OK, click Close, and then quit Outlook Express. If neither scenario is what you are seeing and if either doesn't work let me know and I wil try to think of some other tactic to try.
