Going from a hairpiece to shaving your head

Just do it!  When you show up shaved, say nothing and act as if (and it IS) "no big thing."

My first bout of Sly was over two decades back and I found: if you treat it as, "Oh, I just thought I'd try this," in a week or so folks will think you've been Sly for years.  People (the best ones, of course), don't judge you by how much hair you have or not, but what kind of a person you are day by day. 

If they liked you before (with your combover, your transplants, your rug) they'll like you now--maybe even more--and you'll reap all the benefits, practical and aesthetic, of a clean dome.

Tomorrows the day!! I have worn a hairsystem for close to 20 years and I think Thursday is the day. Should I shave my head bald or just down to 1/8"? I have Friday off of work so I can adjust and then I am going away for the weekend with my wife and close friend couples. I don't think I am to nervous about that. Monday morning going back to work is where the anxiety kicks in, what are  people at work going to think and say? I am in sales the prospects I met last week and I need to meet again in a few weeks how are they gonnahandle the change in appearance. Those are some of my concerns.

I hope I have the balls to stick with my plan.

In for a penny, in for a pound.  If you're going to do it, might as well go all the way.  You can grow back out to 1/8" in a week if you want to.   Good luck.

Well, unless you're selling wigs, toupee's whatever, the clean scalp shouldn't have any effect provided your product/service is good and your elevator speech regarding the product/service is good.  They weren't buying the rug I don't think! 
The people at work, probably the most they'll notice is that you finally got rid of it--they knew it wasn't real.  And I wouldn't be surprised if the prospects noticed the rug too, they're not too hard to spot--sorry, it's the truth.  So, who loses, the wig/toupee salesman, not you.  You're ahead of the game, and you'll do fine.  Everyone else who's ditched the dead animal has. 
Shave the rest, balding isn't nice, sly is.  You're going to look younger, and face it, in sales looking young does help in many cases.

Believe me Russell..... You're much more worried about what those folks will say that you need to be. There will probably  be some raised eyebrows and maybe even a comment or two. Just tell them that you've finished what Mother Nature started. No big deal.

Russell, go for it!  As someone who is in sales, I can tell you that your prospects don't care about your looks but rather if you can provide them with what you need.  If you come back with more confidence (which will happen when you shave your head) it will drive the point home even more!

Down to the skin Russell.  Go whole hog.  Buzz it down with no guard.  Then lather and shave.  First time go with the grain for less irritation. 
Go in there like you own the place, if a potential client asks about it just smile and say "It's been getting so warm I decided to cool my head off abit" or something else smart ass like that. 
The sly look gives confidence.

My advise to Gracie, for what it is worth, just do it.  If the subject comes up, be truthful.  The rug looked like Sh#t and I decided to be a natural man.  If someone told be that, I would admire him for his honesty.

Gracie 2:  GO for it.  I was right where you are 2.5 years ago.  I had the fear of all the questions.  As Saint said,  you will be amazed at how many people already knew it was a rug.  JUst say you were ready for a change.  Your confidence gained will overcome any concerns you have.  As I learned, taking off the wig was a bigger deal to me than anyone else - really, they didin't care. 

Now, it's Friday - tell us how it went over with the wife and post up a picture.

I met a "cop" the other day who told me his story - - -His twelve year old son said to him "Daddy - you embarrass me with that wig you have on" and Tom took the thing off and never used the system again  - - -and that was 15 years ago   -He really felt bad that his son had said that  - - - -and the irony of the story is  - - -His son Brad now  has a bald dome like all of us  - - - -
