I was driving yesterday and came to a red light. To my left was a guy with a smooth shaved head sitting in the media with a sign that read: "Homeless and ugly". I thought it was both funny and a little offensive, what was he saying? Shaved heads are ugly? He caught me looking and of course I had to look away because once you make eye contact with a begger they'll think you want to give them some money!
I almost wanted to give him some money for at least having an original sign, like when those guys have signs saying "No lie, want money for beer": I appreciate the honesty! It also seems unlikely that a real homeless person would have access to the tools needed for head shaving.
There is a guy who hangs out at the Home Plate entrance/exit to Safeco Field after every Mariner game who plays a flute/recorder with a sign that says, "Need money for pot"...

If it were possible for any bum to deserve a handout, that would be the one. At least he's being honest. I see the "Stranded need money to get home" signs every once in a while. It was funny because there was this girl bumming money from me at a grocery store and then a week or so later she comes up to me again with a different sob story and I said "Wait, didn't I talk to you last week?" and she said no then moved away. Funny stuff.
There was a guy outside of my local Starbucks last week begging for change. When he asked me I told him I used plastic but if he wanted to come in I'd buy him whatever food and drink he wanted... he told me to go preform an absolutely impossible sexual act on myself!

It's sure hard to tell who's really in need and who's just a lazy a-hole!
