Hi Guys
I've been balding since I was 18 (37 years old now). I've had my head shaved #4 since my mid twenties and have gradually gone down the numbers since. For the last two years I've been sporting a "guardless" buzz cut (I just can't go the last stage). Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I went to a fancy dress party with my Wife and a guy asked me if I had come as a leukemia patient. I was absolutely gobsmacked. I couldn't even respond. I also got the "what she doing with you" comment from another guy. It was pretty much the lowest point I've had for years.
Cheers

Welcome smiffy. Sorry to hear you had to endure thoughtless and stupid comments from ignorant people. You have just joined a site where you will get nothing but positive support and encouragement. Read through some of the stories here and you will see that being totally sly brings a confidence that turns aside idiots like those you mentioned.

Sounds to me like they were trying to make fun of you on a very low level

.
I wouldn't take it too seriously. Instead, why don't you try shaving it all off right now? It won't be a big change in your appearance but a total different state of mind for yourself.

Like the Cubbies losing something that never disappoints is the ignorance displayed by the average human.
It's a good thing we're all above average.

People that make comments like that do not reveal anything about you but it does reveal a lot about them. Usually from a point of their own inner low self esteem they need to try to tear down someone else. So be happy with yourself and don't worry about their opinion.

stupid ass comment that is best avoided, I'd say.

I actually know a guy who has had Leukemia for over twenty years, and he has a full head of hair, so I don't get the comment he made about Leukemia actually. He didnt know what he was talkin about.

Hi Cheers
Unfortunately, there are people that sometimes say things that are hurtful.
You cannot let these things impact you
What's most important is that you be yousrself and not let "outsiders" bring you down.
I can appreciate that it is very dificult to ignore comments like this but what alternative do you have other than stressing yourself out
You are stronger than that and the SBG Family are here to help you through it
Good Luck!

Don't let those comments deter you. Hang in there, and do what feels right for you.
Unfortunately in life, some people don't know when to keep their mouths shut. Ignorance is rampant in our new culture today.
If these are friends of yours, I would seriously reconsider.
You will have plenty of support here, so stick around and enjoy the forum.

Smiffy, you should have told the idiot that asked why your wife was with you that she was there because she had good taste in men. As it has been said "It is better to keep quiet and thought a fool than to open your mouth and confirm it".
By the way, welcome to the forum. Come often and join in on the conversations and information.

Common is as common does, and that guy was common as pig tracks.

Early on when someone mentioned my new haircut, a blade to the bone--not the zero buzz--I just said, "Nature started this fight, and I finished it." That usually finished the fool. But, to be honest, not many people said anything like that, too many compliments on the bright and shiney dome. Maybe I was lucky.

Welcome to the Forum Smiffy!
I would have just laughed at both of them, grabbed my wife and smiled at them. That's sometimes the best answer for dickheads.
