Calling UK Sly Guys: Where do you get you headshaving products?
« on: December 09, 2009, 10:41:14 AM »
Hi guys.

Although there is quite a considerable headshaving fraternity in the UK, it seems like the retail sector here does not want to help us out. Baldguyz products were in Boots Chemist for a while but they disappeared again.

Where do you go all for your razors and shaving products - either retail or online? I have ordered a Headblade Sport  and extra blades from an online retailer called "The Perfect Shave" but have yet to have them delivered.

And can anyone recommend a product available here to stop/relieve redness and the odd bump?

Thanks,
Tony

Tony, I'm not in the UK, but I have used Mankind (http://www.mankind.co.uk/) for men's products.  They have a very broad, albeit expensive range.

Tony

I'm just up the road from you in Ashford.

I keep an eye on ebay as just occasionally there's a really good deal going. A while ago, I bought about twenty tubes of Bald Guyz moisture gel at rock bottom price (worked out at less than £2 each, including p&p). I've also bought Headslick and Headlube on ebay at about £7.50 a pop which isn't too bad. You just need to keep an eye on it and dive in when there's a really good deal going.

I also have a friend who goes over to the USA every year or so who can usually be persuaded to bring a few bits back for me.

With regard to blades, I use Gillette Contour Plus in the Headblade Sport which are great and quite cheap at Super Drug or Tesco/Sainsbury's. I've looked at "The Perfect Shave" and "Mankind" but they're sooooo expensive!

Cheers

Neil

as a pre shave I always use Gillette pre-shave scrub, followed by King of Shaves menthol shaving gel (with a sensor razor) and to stop the bumps and itches afterwards I use Gillette 'after the shave' gel.  I've used lots of products over the three and half years I've been SLY, and this combination works the best for me and is relitively very cheap! 8)

I find the products available in Boots fine.  Kings of Shaves is my gel of choice.  I have never really seen the need for specific head shaving gear, but then not ever having tried it perhaps I don't know what I am missing.

Hello Tony!

Living in Germany I get my headblade-issues by

http://www.headblade.de/catalog/

They are sitting in the Netherlands. Service is very good.

I popped into the Carter and Bond store in London and picked up a Headblade Sport the other day. They do a full range of Headblade stuff including replacement adapters which will probably come in handy as well as a ton of other razors. As for replacement blades I'll probably just pick up sensor excel or contor plus blades from Boots.
