anything unique about your local Walmart???
« on: December 02, 2009, 08:29:28 AM »
I just wondering if there is anything unique about your local walmart.  Alot of people find it funny that we have hitching post for the amish community on the parking lot.

Wal-Mart and the Amish?  Makes a lot of sense.
Some find it odd that the Amish would choose to patronize this icon of modern American commerce.

Amish have actually been shopping at Wal-Marts for years...the buggy hitch is nothing new for places like Washington, Indiana or Millersburg, Ohio.

Smart businesses accomodate local populations, and the Amish are regular shoppers at Wal-Mart and other low-cost shops and restaurants

Some of the people who go there are VERY unique... if not totally cracked!  :*)) No Amish here but Wal-Mart sure has a high number of crimes on their property.  ;)

You can renew your car tags at a kiosk inside Arkansas Walmarts.

Before I moved 7 years ago I used to shop at Walmarts with horse and buggy parking spots.

I don't know if this annoyance is unique to mine or not, but mine has started the obnoxious decision to split the text of a receipt on both sides of the paper!  I asked, in the most annoyed voice I could muster, "why the hell is my receipt split onto both sides of my paper?" and the clerk said "Oh, it's to save paper!".  I think I said an expletive before giving my opinion on that.  I save my business receipts and save everything on digital form.  For Walmart to make this [oooh I want to use a colorful word here] imposition on me means I must scan both sides of the receipt and then join them together into one argument for no [resisting urge to expletive again] reason really #*&$#*$ me off.  As soon as I got in my car I called up their headquarters to chew someone out, and tomorrow I'm going back into that store to demand a proper receipt.  It's bad enough stores insist on leaving their zipcodes off of the address on their receipts (seriously, WTF is up with that?) so I will not tolerate this.

Obnoxious, small, petty things like this are what most normal people blow off but not me.  Those are just the things I love to raise hell about.

We don't have any hitching posts for the Amish here, but they do have vans that take them around. We have a large Amish population here and Walmart is their favorite shopping destination.

Aside from that, I couldn't tell you anything about Walmarts. I don't shop there, I boycott their stores,

I don't know if this annoyance is unique to mine or not, but mine has started the obnoxious decision to split the text of a receipt on both sides of the paper!

Our new Walmart did this.  But lately they've only been printing on one side.  I asked the cashier why, and she said someone ordered the wrong type of paper.

It wouldn't hurt to ask a manager if there is a way for the cashier to print your receipt on one side.  It may be a simple press of a button (I'm sure the cashier will have no idea how).

I think it's a brilliant idea.  Shaving a couple inches or more off every receipt means a LOT of paper savings for the company.  And I'm sure you are one of about, oh, 3 people who care to have it the old way.  :)

I did ask.  Twice.  They were of no help.
I called the main headquarters to complain and someone was supposed to call.  No one did.  I called back and was told to expect a call in 3-5 days.

It really *****es me off that I have a system for my accounting and Walmart decides to make it additional work for me for what?  So they can save 1/10th of a cent on a transaction?  To appease some intolerant non-judgmental Entertainment Tonight watching tree hugger that wouldn't shop there anyway?  The most ridiculous thing about this is that the two receipts I have this this nonsense were transactions small enough that all of the info could be placed on the front anyway!

And, hell, they could put the useless stuff on the back.  The barcode is of no use to me, and do I really need a 1" high logo?

I may be one of the few who'd complain, but I'm a complainer who buys stuff from this store and now I know every business transaction I make at this place is going to be a pain in the rear.  I'm going to shop elsewhere, yes really.  I already avoid gas stations I haven't stopped at because I'd rather not have to enter another vender location into Quickbooks.  This change won't get anyone to choose Walmart over a competitor, but it will cause me to shop elsewhere.  I hope that 1/10th of a cent was worth it.

Oh, and something else entirely has really put me in a p***sy mood this week so that's compounding my problem.  A lot.
You don't know me, but I know you.
