I finally decided to take the Hair Club unit off and go natrual
I am 60 years old and I have been wearing hair for almost 40 years
I have told my family but I want to tell the people at work
This is a somewhat difficult time as I go back and forth in my head
worrying about how I will look and be received
So, I guess I am looking for encouragement
Any suggestions?

First of all, congradulations on finnaly beeing free, and to not having to hide who you really are!!! Also in case I missed it welcome to the SBG Family there are a lot of great people here with lots of encouragement and advise.
Don't worry about others reactions, it only matters how you frrl about yourself!! If you are confident and comfortable with the way you look then nothing else matters.
Again congradulations!!
P.S. Post up an intro so we can all give you aproper welcome, and tell us your story, I'll bet you are full of wisdom that will be benificial to others.

Started losing my hair at 19 and have worn hair for forty years
Didn't realize the freedom I was missing of diving into a pool, sitting in a sauna, enjoying the rain and wind hit my head.
Love to workout and and still participate in sports but always afraid of the hairpiece moving or just the discomfort in the hot weather
I work in the Supply Chain field where there are many young people and so I felt I needed something to give me confidence and hair did that
At this point in my life (60), I realized that I need to stop and remove the hairpiece and shave the little I have remaining
My wife and family have been totally supportive. My plan is to remove the hairpiece in two weeks prior to the holiday family get together and then go to work...this is where the nerves go edgy....I have no clue how I will look with a shaved head and the reception at work.
I am planning to give them a heads-up the last week before the holidays
so I can reduce the uneasiness.
Well, that's my story....any encouragement is well received
Thanks for listening

Welcome to the Forum Dodger! Congratulations on deciding to ditch that rug after all these years. All this time you felt more confident because of that fake hair. Believe me... others knew and wondered among themselves why you wore that thing.
We had a guy at work that wore one for years...... and everybody spoke about it behind his back. Shortly after I shaved my horseshoe a few years ago he ditched the rug..... much to everyone's surprise. Guess what..... nobody talks behind his back anymore.
Your plan to shave at the Family Holiday is a great plan. This will offer you and those closest to you to get accustomed to your new look. I;m betting that you will love the shaved look, be confident with it by the time you return to work, and have no problem facing your colleagues because of your new confidence.
Now go run around the block and dive into the pool!!!!!! Enjoy your new found life!!!

That's fantastic news Dodger. Congratulations! You'll be really glad you became a SBG.
Oh ...don't forget to say "hi" in the "Introductions" section too.
Congrats to you also, Craig. And a big SBG welcome to you. Now scoot on over to Introductions and tell us more about yourself.

Welcome, enjoy the freedom. You're probably going to find a lot of encouragement from the brothers who, like you, have come out from under the rug. Enjoy.

I was right there where you were a couple of days ago. So tired of paying for hair. So tired of the hassle. I've though about going sly for a few months and thanks to everyone's encouragement on the site I took the plunge this week and am so dang happy that I did. I worried about what I would look like, the reactions of others, what my wife would think, what my kids would think. People at work were "eh, got a hair cut, ok lets get back to working on this". My wife was "ahhhhh you look like Bruce Willis, looks good!" -- and my kids were "ha ha ha daddy you lost your hair!". For me its the ultimate freedom of taking control. Don't look back.
This site is incredible. Without this site I wouldn't have been able to take the step to sly.

Like anything new, it takes a little time for you to get used to it. You see yourself many times a day so, it's going to take others longer. But get used to it they will.
The best thing to do is jump in and get it over with! Don't go back! It took me a couple months to stop thinking about it all the time.
