are you guys all ready for the holidays?
Thanksgiving is now just around the corner. I can already smell the Turkey, dressing, greenbean casserole, sweet potato bake, and the pumpking pies! Yummy ( damn that is making me hungry just mentioning it)
Do you all have large get togethers or do you keep it simple? We are thinking about maybe renting a cabin for a few days over the thanksgiving holiday and just being with the immediate family. That would be my family ( Kris and the kids) mom and dad and my brother and his wife and his two kids.
So how is your Thanksgiving Holiday shaping up?

We host here at our house. We usually have about 18 family members here....some years we pick up a stray or two....you know, folks who don't have anyone to spend the day with.

Going to go to bro-in-law's place in Santa Cruz for turkey day, then back home on Friday since my daughter has a soccer tournament over the Thanksgiving weekend.

He can come, but chances are I won't be here. LOL
I'll be somewhere else for sure. Not sure where or when yet. I kind of share PBurke's ideas of the holidays.

Family gathering, but not at our place--probably 24 according to the count I got. Personally I don't like turkey--and I don't care how it's cooked--a Turducken is just a ruined duck and chicken IMO, and fried, just can't get there--no juices for the oyster dressing that I do like a lot. So usually we also have a roast of some sort in addition to the turkey, crown roast of pork is my favorite. So I'll move the bird meat around on my plate, and hope duck hunting is good for a duck sauce picante, and maybe some oyster annouille gumbo.
