Don`t most people already do these kinda things without being asked...?....   ???

You would think so and even hope so...... but if you truly believe the question that you yourself asked.... Then me thinks ye be a bit naive mate.

Not many people these days aaargh, it seems it's "all about me" lately.

Mike, I do what you suggested everyday, most of the time with a smile on my face, at the airport, and it's also part of my normal daily life. It's how I was raised, but that's a generational thing I'm guessing. Unfortunately, you have to deal with people who just don't get it, and I won't go on a tirade, but I think you know what I mean. Good post and I agree with the sentiment.  O0

Well I live in the Northeast....... I've been to many other areas of the country...... and I personally believe, that overall, people in the Norteast may be some of the rudest in the entire country.

It's hustle and bustle...me, me, me. Not everyone by any stretch....but a wholeeee lot of people.

I've just finished a five week marketing tour with a "Yankee" our new sales manager.  Apparently I was sent so that I might be able to "round off" some of his sharp "North Eastern--read Yankee" corners.  At one meeting it was really funny, the guy we met w/ although living in the South, was a transplanted NYr!  Well, that was interesting.  Although not noticeable to me, almost all business conversations in the South seem to start with a couple of off the subject comments, sports, weather, anything but the subject of the meeting.  Not so with the Yanks, it's business, business nothing but business.  It's kind of off putting to the Southern way, although we too quickly get down to the business, our little back and forth at the start makes the deal a little less confrontational.  Interesting cultural distinction that has lasted so long.  BTW, I absolutely love being in NYC for deals, it is exciting, bracing, rather fun--but I couldn't do it that way all the time.  Too high pressure.
