Tan lines

Baldboss:
I shaved my head 6 days ago and have a dramatic difference between where I had hair and where I didn't.  Any tips to even it out aside from time?  A neighbor of mine was working in the yard and she asked me if I had bleached my hair!  I spend/am spending a lot of time in the sun, so is it just a matter of time?

BaldBear:
You can use some of those tinted tanning creams, but make sure whatever you use has sunscreen in it. That skin up there is virgin as far as sun goes. You don't want to get a nasty sunburn!

Antimidas:
I have been using the Jergen's Natural Glow for fair/medium for a little over a week.  It is slow progress, but has given me some color.  It hasn't turned orange like a lot of the other self tanning creams do.  Just make sure you get the right one for your complexion.  If you have a darker tan on the rest of you, get the Tan version of it.

Personally, I think it is taking a bit longer than I would like and hope it evens out by winter.  That'll be in a month or so if my luck hods out.  I am thinking about going to one of those salons that does the body spray thing, but I want to research that more before I do it.  I have not found anything on here from anyone who has actually tried it.

Definitely do not let it burn.  Saw pictures on here of someone with skin cancer on their noggin.  Nothing to mess around with.  Use at least an SPF 15 and take it easy outdoors.  Tanning is fairly cumultive and if you do it all at once, you might end up blistering that virgin scalp.

Baldboss:
I'll try a tanning cream.  I stay in the sun a lot so the difference is pretty noticeable.  I was down at the coast this weekend and, being very concerned about burning, used SPF 50...maybe went overboard, but better safe then sorry.

Funny story about my son, now 29, when he was 13 or so.  He was spending a week at my parents and shaved his head which was prompty sunburned.  As his hair was growing out and his head peeling, he had a flake of sunburned skin on top of each hair.  It looked like he had two scalps, one about 1/2 inch above the other!

Antimidas:
lol.  Funny about your son.

I think 50 might be overkill.  I burn rather quickly and have been using a 15.  I read somewhere on here that you will still tan with the sunscreen on, but I am beginning to have my doubts.  I have been doing full sun in 10 minute increments all day.  See how it goes tomorrow.
