have to admit that I am intrigued.  I have a bit of shadow in middle top forward and would like it to be gone, along with the mpb shadow I have from my monks ring.  do you have heavy growth in the ring area?

You can get a panasonic epilator on amazon for like 50 bucks...I dont know about doing your whole head but I would say the top didnt hurt too much.
Its been like 5 days and I dont see much of it coming back at all and Ive shaved the area everyday.
It says to hold the machine at a 90 degree angle...I didnt do that...I tilted it a bit and it felt better to me.
But I stress this once again...if you think you may want to grow hair in the future...DONT DO IT.   If you want no shadow it does work...how long remains to be seen.
Shave your head.....free your mind.

My understanding is that it hurts a lot more to use the epilator on the sides of your head.

If you're tweezing an area that is balding already anyway, the hairs should come out fairly easily and without a whole lot of discomfort.  I used to have some strays at the hairline (the dreaded "island" effect) that I plucked out a few times with a tweezers.  I think I only did it about two or three times eventually it stopped growing back.  Remember we're talking about hair that will eventually disappear on its own anyway; plucking it out is only speeding up the process.

My guess is that you may have to use the epilator a few more times but the top of your head will eventually become permanently hairless -- probably quicker than you think.

I am currently thinning out along the front and top, but have the island effect on the very front of my head. The hair behind it is getting sparse.. I think I will allow nature to deal with it in time.

I've always wondered what happens as the hairs begin to grow back.  I'm sure they regenerate as fine hairs that gradually thicken up as the root heals, so would that mean you'd have to tolerate a peach fuzz head between sessions?  I would NOT want that.  The epilator wouldn't snag onto anything if you didn't allow it to go out to fuzz, and if you shaved off the fuzz then you'd eventually return to standard stubble.  Fuzz is fine for a woman's legs but on my head?  that would look really bizarre.

Do you have any pics?  Did you use one before taking your profile pic because your skin looks great in that photo (but then it is dark).
You don't know me, but I know you.

I tried the epilator thing and did whole head about 15-20 times , and yes it hurt like hell, But it got to the stage where  my skin hurt for days after wards and got headaches and i had to let hair grow for 2-3 days to do again, but found i still had to shave most of head any way as i could feel the stubble in places, And i found i got alot of tears in skin as the jaws picked up loose skin and pinched it
But my hair never stopped growing and came back , i found the result only lasted 2-3 days and then shadow back as strong as ever.
But if you can stand the pain go for it. But i think you will find the pain is greater than the long term results.

Enough to convince me.  My hair is light enough anyway that if I can ever get the virgin scalp to tone up, it should not be nearly that noticeable.  The shine detracts from the shadow a bit.  :)

I did this once....whole head tweeze. It just hurts too much to keep up.....especially on the lower sides and lower back. Not again, thank you.
