Karaoke anyone?
« on: September 19, 2009, 04:31:15 PM »
A big passion and stress reliever for me is to find a good place to karaoke.  It's hard because some places have good systems, but no karaoke crowd...while others have a good crowd, but unforgiving systems.  When I find a good balance between that, that is where I like to go.  Honestly, if it still exists...Yume Karaoke in Pattaya Beach Thailand sets the bar to be judged by...

I know I missed the conventions and many get togethers, but I heard karaoke was a part in some, if not all...how did it go?  Who had the most fun?  Will it be a part of future SBG get togethers?

If you have a recommended place to go in the NE Illinois/SE Wisconsin area...let me know...

What's your favorite karaoke song or karaoke moment?

Remember, I said karaoke...I don't pretend to sing well...it's all about having fun! O0

Well at the most recent Convention in July there was Karaoke...... As you can see by my avatar we had a little group thing going on. That was the SBG rendition of "Why Don't We Get Drunk and Screw".

In all honesty....from what I remember.... it wasn't very good but it was loud, fun and got some good cheers from the admittedly very drunk crowd in the bar. The only ones in the bar that may have sounded worse while singing that night were the SBG Girls....

I've done kareoke twice. Once was "Luck Be A Lady Tonight" by Sinatra and "Smoking Gun" by Robert Cray, both to loud applause.

Believe it or not, I can carry a tune.

I've been going out a couple times a week for over 3 years now.  It's lots of fun.  Different venues definitely have their pluses and minuses, but sometimes those with the biggest minuses can be very useful.  For example, if you find a place with a small crowd you can use it to practice new stuff because they often have short rotations.

My biggest gripe with karaoke places are the ones where they insist on playing blocks of dance music between songs.  My suggestion is to stay away from those places altogether.  It's usually a lazy host who would rather put on a series of mindless Flow Rider and No-Talent Eyed Peas diddies than manage a karaoke show.

It's more fun to sing a fun song than to fool yourself into thinking you have a voice people actually want to hear.  You wouldn't believe some of the stupid things I sing, or the fact that I'll sing some of this nonsense on a regular basis.

There's one place near me in Orlando that has a live karaoke band.  You'll only get to sing once in a night at this place, but it's a unique experience.
You don't know me, but I know you.
