Hi everyone
I came across this corner of the internet a little while back. I had decided from reading from a number of locations that inevitably in the long run that I would probably need to shave it off. I have attached a before image (not sure if it will come up though), basically since about the age of 20 my hair has been receding/ thinning, I'm now 23 and the MPB is really obvious so I have been buzzing it off short for the last couple of months, but now I've gone the whole hog and shaved it all off. I think it looks pretty good, just hoping that the reactions I get aren't really bad, I'm not looking forward to work on monday, but atleast because its been short for a while it won't be too much of a shock.
I hope its a case of easier shaving the more you do it? as this time it was pretty difficult, especially trying to get it off at the back, though I think I need better razor blades, I used swivel headed double bladed disposable razors as that is what I normally use for my face, but perhaps I am fighting a losing battle and need to upgrade.
As far as I can interpret I'm now bounded by the 30 days rule, so here goes.....

Welcome Sultan
Nope - the disposables just don't "cut it" for headshaving. Lots of opinions here on what blades work best. Try them for yourself and see what works for you. I have both a Mach 3 and Headblade. The Headblade takes a little getting used to so maybe get the routine down first. Heres what works for me: After my shower, about 10 drops of Shave Secret oil followed by HeadSlick Shave Cream.
Don't let any initial feedback that's less than positive get you down. Friends and family of guys under 25 tend to react less positively at first, but they'll come around by the end of 30 days.

Looks good. Don't worry about the reactions at work; it's more often than not a non-issue. You'll get more positive reactions than you think.
23 is too young to go around with MPB; you're much better off with a completely bald head.

Looks great. In terms of razors, get Mach 3 or Fusion. They will get the job done.
Also, be sure to use a good shaving cream/gel such as Bald Guyz shave gel or Headslick.

Looks great, Sultan. I'm partial to the Fusion. I get a nice, comfy and super close shave with it. The BaldGuyz products and the HeadBlade line are great. I tend to mix in a variety of products from both lines.

Well Sultan, you do swing the Sly look. Please don't put up with any negative remarks. In time the nay-sayers will come around. I am envious of your no shadow dome. Welcome and come visit often.

I am going to do some experimenting over the coming weeks and months with products, possibly checkout if BaldGuyz, Headblade or HeadSlick are available in the UK. I picked up a Mach3 blade at the store earlier, so I'll check it out in the next coming days, hopefully I will it test against a fusion at some point and see if I have a preference for one.
I don't have much of an idea yet of how quickly it grows back, can anybody give me a rough timeline of how often they have to shave it off, or is it to do with preference of how clean a look you are after? In response to Papa Don, I think I have less shadow as my hair was originally fair in colour, not sure if that also means that I can potentially get away with shaving less often?
p.s thanks for all the encouraging comments, much appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum bro! I don't know if it was intentional or not but you are a spitting image of Joe Satriani! Its amazing, the head shape, color, the exact shape sunglasses, the Gibson?
You got it boy just keep it like that for the next month shaving every day and see where you're at. You'll love it.
So what do you play for music? Are you a Satriana fan?

Welcome Sultan. You did the right decision, you look pretty cool!
How often should you shave? As you like.
I shave daily because when I leave the house with stubble on my head it feels not right although people would have to look very closely to notice I guess.
After the 30 days you will know how you like it.

Yeah maybe I should think about picking up an ibanez, I don't think I set out to look like Joe but I'm not disappointed if I do

, the man is genius and I'm guessing a Sly legend. I saw G3 a couple of years back in London, Joe was amazing, if I could play to half the speed of him then I would be content. I am striving to being able to recreate the genius of people like Satriani, Mark Knopfler, Brian May, Slash, etc
I read recently that only guys with long hair could be rock icons, though Satriani and Mark Knopfler are both doing it for the baldies, pure legends! albeit Mark didn't really embrace the sly look so much though.
