Good soap?
« on: July 07, 2009, 10:29:40 AM »
I tried posting this elsewhere but to no avail, so lets try this again. I have been mixing up Uber Lather in the morning and REALLY love the shaves I"m getting. But, all I am using is a very cheap, $1.50 a bar soap. Question is what do you soap shavers consider a good quality soap and if possible let me know where you got it!!!

TIA

I use Williams (yes, the cheap stuff) or a glycerin one by Van Der Hagen (also cheap, under $2). Both found at Wal-Mart or any chain drug store. I have a cake of Art of Shaving Sandalwood scented shaving soap my wife bought as part of a gift set that included a teak shaving bowl. It's very nice, but pricey.

There are more premium brands that have been expertly reviewed here by rward086, including one called C.O. Bigelow available at Bath and Body. Honestly, I get great results from the drugstore variety (see avatar), but don't mind having a few of the nicer ones on hand for a treat.

Hope that helps.
